In the lead-up to their third album, Sinner’s Lament, Tasmanian heavy metal band (and self-proclaimed “World Heavy Metal Champions”) Taberah have released a new single, “Child of Storm” with a video directed by Josh Gee and produced by Dawnless Studios (www.dawnlessstudios.com).

Sinner’s Lament is set for a 19th May release through Rocket Distribution (Australia and New Zealand) and Rock Stakk Records (Japan). A European release via Killer Metal Records will follow.

Coming in at just over four minutes, “Child of Storm” captures the long, whirlwind tale of heaviness, orchestration and harmony that roars through Sinner’s Lament. It’s a journey that mirrors the exhaustive production of the record.

“Sinner’s Lament has been nearly two years in the making,” explains drummer Tom Brockman. “This album is a culmination of all the hard work we have put in over the last 10 years as a band and shows tremendous growth and increased knowledge.”

“We had the mindset of treating the recording process like Queen did, by treating the studio as a completely different beast to the live show. We wanted a huge record with big choruses and layers upon layers of instrumentation. I believe we’ve finally achieved that,” Brockman states.

Not only have the four-piece realised their career-long vision of heavy, melodic and epic rock n’ roll, they’ve done it with an all-star team behind them. Psycroptic’s Joe Haley engineered Sinner’s Lament, with Lord Tim (LORD, Dungeon) producing, mixing and mastering the album. The album’s haunting, cryptic artwork was crafted by Tasmanian tattoo artist Hannah Flowers.

“Despite having worked on the album with the guys, I can say without any hint of bias that Sinner’s Lament is the album which will firmly put Taberah on the world map. Massive hooks, water-tight rhythm section, well-crafted songs, and chorus choirs that would make Queen sit up and smile,” says Lord Tim. “This is next-level stuff for Taberah, and I expect Sinner’s Lament to turn a lot of heads.”

“At its core, it’s probably the heaviest pop music the world will ever hear.” – Jonathon Barwick (Taberah, guitars and vocals)

Pre-sale bundles, including the Australian digipack and exclusive merch, are now available from the band’s Big Cartel (www.taberah.bigcartel.com).

Inspired by their strong musical bond, Jonathon Barwick and Tom Brockman created what is now Taberah in 2004. The band’s sound and live performance is derived from an array of influences including the traditional heavy metal stylings of Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath, the rock n’ roll swagger of AC/DC and Thin Lizzy, and the over the top, tongue-in-cheek theatrics of Queen and The Darkness.

The four-piece quickly became a staple in the Tasmanian live music scene and are now one of the state’s top musical exports with an ever-expanding audience at home and around the world.

In 2011, Taberah blitzed a nationwide poll and were handpicked by Lemmy Kilmister himself to open for Motörheadon the Sydney leg of their Australian tour the same year.

The band have released two full length albums, The Light of Which I Dream (2011) and Necromancer (2013).Necromancer scored amazing reviews worldwide, and was voted album of the year by Triple M’s Distortion host Dave “Higgo” Higgins. The record peaked at number 12 on the Imports Chart in Japan’s most reliable heavy metal source,BURRN Magazine.

The band kicked off 2016 supporting Finland’s Nightwish on their Endless Forms Most Beautiful Australian tour.

Other milestones include sharing stages across Australia with high profile international and national acts, such as Blind GuardianAce Frehley (ex-KISS)Paul Di’anno (ex-Iron Maiden)Tim “Ripper” Owens (ex-Judas Priest),Blessed by a Broken HeartMunicipal Waste and Hammerfall.

2017 will see them release their third studio album entitled Sinner’s Lament, followed by extensive touring throughout Australia, Europe and Japan.

Taberah deliver a show that is full of energy, over the top fun, theatrics and plenty of crowd interaction. This has earned the quartet a solid reputation for being one of Australia’s “must see” live bands.
