Hellions Announce Opera Oblivia Australian Headline Tour

Hellions

Hellions have announced they will be taking their critically acclaimed new album Opera Oblivia for a spin around the country on their national headline tour in April/May.

Sydney’s Hellions have been riding a wave of critical acclaim since they dropped their third album Opera Oblivia, which debuted at #4 on the ARIA Album Chart, landed the coveted triple j Feature Album, scored flawless reviews and completely sold out their 2016 headline tour before doors even opened. The boys even found themselves nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album in 2016. Last week Hellions appeared in the triple j Hottest 200 list twice with “Quality of Life” coming in at #136 and “Thresher” at #153.

To coincide with the announcement of their headline album tour, Hellions have dropped the video for their sublime single “Thresher”, which takes fans on tour with the boys as they take their incendiary live show around the globe and have the time of their lives.

Vocalist/Guitarist Matt Gravolin explains: “’Thresher’ is about existential disillusionment and the need for constant escape, stuck in the incendiary mode of thought in between ‘Help me’ and ‘Fuck you, only I can help me’. The video shows us in the midst of our collective escape. Exorcism and ecstasy, on and off the stage.”

Frontman Dre Faivre adds: “The song is about the need/thirst for escape and this is us trying to fill our cup and enjoy everything, whilst trying to find ourselves.”

Opera Oblivia is a glorious celebration and forensic examination of everything that makes being alive worthwhile – from high to low, they say, the nearest thing any of us have to a shortcut to happiness is the necessity of being true to oneself. The album has been declared a genre great by the wider music community for its theatricality, emotion, innovation and confidence. More than just a collection of songs, Opera Oblivia is a musical experience, with the grandeur on display likened to that of British rock Legends Queen, solidifying their reputation as one of the most innovative, passionate and talented bands around. The album scored full marks in the likes of Blunt Mag and Kerrang! who say proclaim the album to be “one of the most ambitious genre-splices ever dreamed up” while Rolling Stone have declared the album as “bombastic, bold with more sonic plot twist than many of their peers manage in a lifetime.”

Hellions have spent the best part of the last year on the road refining their live show on both sides of the Hemisphere. Over in Europe, Hellions found themselves on stages at Groezrock, Slam Dunk, Never Say Die and Impericon festivals, they were also hand picked to support Of Mice & Men and did a lap of the continent with label mates Northlane. Back home, Hellions saw in the new year on Redfest in Perth and they just wrapped up a huge tour of regional Australia with The Amity Affliction and Ocean Grove. The boys have just returned to the Northern Hemisphere for their first ever UK headline shows as well as a run of European dates with Comeback Kid and Deez Nuts.

Hellions’ last Australian headline tour was a complete sell out before doors opened, so fans will need to move quick on this one.
