Adelaide’s The Hard Aches today unveil a brand new single-version of the popular album track, accompanied by a new video by award-winning director, Kieran Ellis-Jones.
The Hard Aches duo, Ben David (vocals and guitar) and Alex Upton (drums), teamed up with longtime friend and fellow SA native, Ellis-Jones to film in various locations around Adelaide, shot in eye-watering 8k.
Echoing the track’s starkly emotive narrative, the new, split-screen clip sees the two-piece slip into the starring roles as they portray polarising characters throughout.
“It follows a day in life, waking up on the right side, or the wrong side, of the bed. A series of fortunate, or not so fortunate, events,” Ben explains.
‘Mess‘, released via Anchorhead Records earlier this year, was met by glowing reviews from both critics and fans, with Ben also describing it as ‘the best representation of us as a band’ and ‘the album we’ve been working towards creating through years of touring and making music.”
The Hard Aches’ single release coincides with their first UK tour, as they head overseas to support their UK pals in Muncie Girls, as well as a handful of headline shows.
This UK jaunt will be followed by a hotly-anticipated Australian headline run, before the band’s debut visit to New Zealand as support for Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls across AU and NZ during November and December.
The Hard Aches have prioritised AA shows on their upcoming headline tour, with all dates now on their way to selling out. Support comes from brilliant Brisbane trio, Bugs, and emerging Melbourne outfit, Face Face. Local supports are set to be announced soon.
