Less than a month from lights up, the 2026 Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash, Australia’s biggest Outback music festival, has officially sold out.
“It’s exciting to announce that we’re at capacity – with nearly 15,000 people set to rock the Outback this month. Thousands of these travellers are already hitting the road and going to join us for our new Lightfest event that will be staged on the streets of Broken Hill in the week leading into the Mundi Mundi Bash,” said Festival founder and Managing Director of the Outback Music Festival Group Greg Donovan.
Against a red earth backdrop, festivalgoers will come together for a line-up that includes The Teskey Brothers, Jon Stevens, John Butler, Boy & Bear, Baby Animals, Jessica Mauboy, The Whitlams, Leo Sayer, Tim Finn, Troy Cassar-Daley, Chocolate Starfish, Mi-Sex, Furnace and the Fundamentals, Wendy Matthews, The Radiators, Shane Howard, Fanny Lumsden, ‘50 Years of Fleetwood Mac’, Hot Potato Band, Tom Busby and Wes Carr – a bill that spans generations.
“We launched the Mundi Mundi Bash during very tough times for events. We survived the Covid years consistently selling out the event, and this year it’s been the fuel crisis and tough economic times that have impacted consumer spending. And yet here we are – announcing a sellout of our biggest event yet. We’re incredibly grateful for our audience who choose to spend their time and money with us, we’re going to repay that support with an incredible party in the desert later this month,” added Greg Donovan.
The 2026 iteration of the Mundi Mundi Bash will feature a new prelude event with Lightfest set to be staged on the streets of Broken Hill, for both locals and Mundi Mundi Bashers alike, in the week before the Bash. The free Lightfest event will run over three consecutive nights featuring a large-scale drone light show and street activations. The event will be part of the Transport for NSW Open Streets Program: Foundation Events 2026-27 – which brings streets across NSW to life. The Open Streets Program is part of the NSW Government’s Vibrant Streets Package.
A new Bash Choir – a new feel-good replacement for the Nutbush world-record attempt – will also be staged for the first time this year at the Mundi Mundi Bash event.
Taking place on Friday August 21, Bash Choir will see thousands of Bash-goers gather in the main concert area to learn the iconic “Simply The Best” – in a nod to the Nutbush/Tina Turner connections of previous years. The hit song will be performed in a powerful shared moment that will be the world’s biggest outback choir, raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
In addition to the new Bash Choir, off-stage programming at the event retains a quirky sense of fun with the Big Blue Day map of Australia world record attempt raising funds for Beyond Blue, the Mundi Undie Run also raising funds for the RFDS, and Mad Max dress up, camel and helicopter rides, comedy, morning yoga on the plains, dunny door painting and more rounding out full days of entertainment.
The all-ages, dog friendly and BYO festival offers up a uniquely Australian destination adventure for families, grey nomads, camping and caravanning enthusiasts and intrepid travellers alike.
Ticket holders are able to bring their own food as well as alcohol, with a large range of food vendors selling both hot and cold food and non-alcoholic beverages also on offer at the event.
A sealed road leads directly into the event site at Belmont Station on the Mundi Mundi Plains, 9km north of Silverton and 35km north of Broken Hill, with flights and trains to Broken Hill also available.
