Aktaion Premiere New Video ‘Cancer’ With Terrorizer Magazine

Aktaion

Having recently released their brand new single ‘Cancer’ a couple of weeks back, which was inspired by the war First World War poems of Wilfred Owen; Halmstad, Sweden based metallers Aktaion have now unveiled a new lyric video. Commissioned by Andy Pilkington of Very Metal Art, the single also features a guest solo from Armageddon’s guitar virtuoso Joey Concepcion.

This new single demonstrates a band carving their name even deeper into the stones of melodic death metal and taking their own variation of the genre one step further. The band comments, “With the release of ‘Cancer’ we are setting a new standard and starting the new, more polished era of Aktaion. We are moving into more focused territory and will continue even further in the footsteps of ‘Cancer’ with new material in the later parts of 2017.”

Guitarist Francis Larsson adds, “The backbone of the music for ‘Cancer’ came together surprisingly quickly, with most of the music written during one late evening. I struggled with finding the right lyric inspiration and took several different approaches until I stumbled upon an archive of poems written during and around the First World War. One in particularly caught my attention; ‘Dulce et Decorum Est’ by Wilfred Owen. It fit perfectly with what I felt the song needed and the emotion behind writing the instrumentals for the song. A lot of inspiration and even direct citations in the lyrics for ‘Cancer’ comes from this poem. I searched for a long time for the ‘soul’ of this song and found it in the words of Wilfred Owen and of the lives lost whom he wrote his beautiful poems about. I think the theme of losing one’s comrades in battle and the terrors of war in general, and especially from chemical warfare as in this case, made up a perfect theme for the song.”

Italian Metallers As a Conceit streams Live Session of “A Should With a Must”

As A Conceit

After releasing one gut punch of a Full-length on December, 2nd of 2016, our Boys in As A Conceit are here with a live recorded session of “A Should with A Must” from the debut full-length album titled “Frown Upon Us”.

FFO: Artists such as Architects and Northlane, these Progressive metallers administer a chilling dose of technicality laced with subtle melody, all the while without losing sight of the message these gents aim to deliver: anger, dismay but at the same time, a sliver of hope for the world we live in. And the timing for such feelings has never been more spot on. For any fan who enjoys technicality, ambiance and gut-wrenching vocals supported by a radical musical assault, or for anyone who’s enjoyed the latest Architects albums, this is an album that should not be missed out on.

The band gives us more detail into this single and how everything came together:
‘A Should With A Must’ is the last song off our last album ‘Frown Upon Us’.
This song is about our society in modern life; about being constantly pushed to be and to think what we are and what we think, day after day, in a neverending brainwashing lead by mass media, governments and multinational corporations; about the personal struggle we all lead to not be defined by others and to find our own identities.
We decided to film this live session because to us is one of the most fun and energizing songs to perform live, if not the most one, and because we think it encloses a meaningful message we should all regularly take some time to reflect upon.

Having formed in 2000, Swiss four-piece group CardiaC blend such diverse styles as rock’n’roll, hardcore, metal and stoner-rock to distil a groovy and punchy sound, but it’s the Spanish words sung by Ricardo Chimichanaga that gives them a very unique and distinct flavour.

Jagged Vision Share Full Album Stream Of ‘Death is This World’ Via Invisible Oranges

Jagged Vision

Norwegian sludge noisemakers JAGGED VISION have just shared a full stream of their second full-length “Death Is This World” prior to the release date this Friday, March 10th.

“Death Is This World” can be heard in its entirety via Invisible Oranges, who commented “…groove is the one constant Jagged Vision have carried over to their current sound, and it complements the crusty, vicious streak the album is otherwise feeding from. “Feeble Souls” and “Serpents” are what may have happened if the guys in Lamb Of God grew up in Stavanger, Norway instead of Richmond.” Hear it here.

Watch the video for the track “Betrayer” here.

The follow-up to 2014’s debut album “Harvest Earth” was once again produced by Kylesa’s Philip Cope at The Jam Room Recording Studio in Columbia and marks the debut of guitarist Tommy Jacobsen and bassist Morten Transeth. March 10th will see the worldwide release of “Death Is This World” via Fysisk Format and pre-orders are now available at this location.
