Brisbane prog-metallers THE STRANGER today are unfurling ‘The Whip’, a brand new, CRACKING single, the latest taste of their Self-Titled Album. The album will see it’s release in exactly two months’ time, on Friday April 21st. Pre-Orders go live this Friday, with purchasers getting this new single The Whip straight away.

The Whip’s videoclip also arrives today in the form of a scenice one-take performance, shot in the Australian Bush outside Brisbane, Queensland. Adrian Goleby shot, edited and did the cartoon fx on the clip and took the clip to the next level!

Guitarist Kalen Austin beams about the clip – “Adrian Goleby helped us with the filmclip and he really took the bull by the horns from go to whoa. He turned what could have been a fairly standard (albeit scenic) filmclip into something that is really next level with all the effects and shots. We did this in one take – we couldn’t be more stoked.”

Adam Merker (Aversions Crown, Lagerstein, Disentomb) from Anderz Debeerz Studio recorded the single and album with David Castillo (Katatonia, Bloodbath, Opeth) from Ghost Ward Studios on mix duties andand Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Caligula’s Horse) from Fascination Street Studios doing final master on the polished, sharp and epic album.

Of the record, Kalen Austin said, “We are absolutely proud of our work on the album and what we are about to embark on, the release of our self-titled debut LP – and The Whip, we feel, is the epitome of what the record is about – heavy, fun and it’s a favourite to play live.”

Since its inception, The Stranger has been captivating audiences with their energetic live performances which display the interplay of instrumental virtuosity and lyrical story telling – for which the band has become known. The Stranger has been fortunate enough to share the stage with Australian progressive metal powerhouses Caligula’s Horse and German power metal legends Helloween.

The Stranger’s self-titled LP will be available in iTunes and Spotify and all other online outlets on Friday April 21st and The Whip is the instant gratification track if purchased on iTunes. Physical copies of the record will be available for pre-order from Bandcamp from Friday 24th February.
