The warmer months may be coming to an end, but the tunes don’t have to – after a summer on your stereo, SKEGSS are stoked to drop ‘Got On My Skateboard’, their new track and lead single from their forthcoming Holiday Food EP. Premiered on triple j’s Good Nights last night, ‘Got On My Skateboard’ will be available this Friday March 3 as an instant-grat with all Holiday Food EP pre-orders. The Holiday Food EP is out digitally on April 7 and will be available as a double-EP vinyl, together with their last release Everyone Is Good At Something, later in April.

“You’re young once and old forever” SKEGSS

Wrapped in driving drums with an instantly memorable hook that’ll earworm you for days, ‘Got On My Skateboard’ bleeds nostalgia of years gone by and the notion that you should take advantage of being young to make sure you don’t ever regret things you didn’t do, rather than those that you did. Skegss’ DIY approach to life bleeds into their sound; raw, gritty rock’n’roll with lyrics that any 20-something will be able to rattle off and relate to.

‘Got On My Skateboard’ follows the first single from the Holiday Food EP, ‘Spring Has Sprung’. After the summer in high rotation on triple j, ‘Spring Has Sprung’ became Single of the Day on The AU Review and one of the Best Tracks of the Week on Howl & Echoes, and spawned this gooey video featuring their mate Shaun kissing some of his friends. The Music said “Skegss offer up an early contender for feel-good hit of the summer” and Life Without Andy noted “this is one to keep on repeat during the heatwave, evoking images of sandy beaches and afternoon brews.”SKEGSS took ‘Spring Has Sprung’ on the road in January and February for a 14-date tour of regional and coastal towns in Australia & New Zealand, which sold out 10 shows ahead of time, as well as slots on Mountain Sounds and Party in the Paddock. SKEGSS are heading out on a sold out 11-date national tour with Dune Rats and The Gooch Palms in March.
