ALBUM REVIEW: Grotesque – Feedback Loop

Grotesque - Feedback Loop

Perth Has some great band leading scene stalwarts Grotesque are no exception and return with an absolute rip snorter of an album. Band’s can sometimes feel and sound like they want to out blast beat, out riff and out scream one another – absolutely no need here.

Opening track takes me back to the “Hate Eternal” opus, “I Monarch” contains savage riffs aplenty, snarling vocals, breakneck drums; what is not to like here really. Title track “Feedback Loop” is the standout, I’m also reminded of the mighty “Misery Index” in this track particularly in terms of vocal style and production.

I have seen Grotesque live a hand full of times and this album really makes them stand out from their peers, it is admitted epilepsy inducing and you really have to be in the mood for this album. The track “Radii” alone is a bludgeoning piece of nastiness, I could sit all day long rattling off bands that this sounds like but that would be a mighty shame and would also do this review no justice what so ever.

One thing that is noticed here is that you don’t have time to breathe, it’s a real roller coaster ride. like with tracks like “Beyond The Reversal” which will be mosh pit inducing. This is a finely honed album in every sense of the word, the production here is next level and believe me when I say I see huge things for these guys. America and the rest of the world will be shaking in there collective boots!

I for one I’m actually lost for words….. my only question would be can they actually top this, it would be one very tall order. My advice to you is go out and grab this album with both hands crank, this bad boy up to as loud as is humanly possible and enjoy every second. Well done boys! In the words of one of my favourite video game franchises Mortal Kombat – FLAWLESS VICTORY! Certainly a strong contender in my book for tech death album of the year.
