Treat – Ghost of Graceland

Frontiers Records - April 15th 2016

When you think of melodic rock bands from SWEDEN, the names , MIA KLOSE, the brilliant LOUD `N` NASTY,THE MURDER OF MY SWEET, NUBIAN ROSE, ELECTRIC BOYS and of course EUROPE come to mind, head and shoulders over them all though is TREAT.

First formed in 1983 they released five albums including the classic DREAMHUNTER(1987) & Organized Crime(1989). They reformed in 2006 to release the fantastic COUP DE GRACE album. Now they are back with another slab GHOST OF GRACELAND.

The title track opens proceedings with a thudding rhythm and sounding more polished and sophisticated than on previous outings.I don`t Miss The Misery has an almost grunge guitar sound to it and benefits from it. From the beautiful and haunting DO YOUR OWN STUNTS, through the pounding ENDANGERED, the catchy INFERNO all the way through to album closer EVERYTHING TO EVERYONE, the album oozes class and is filled with memorable songs, punchy music and boasting a great production. The melodic and catchy ALIEN EARTHLINGS is a particular favourite.

GHOST OF GRACELAND is as good as anything TREAT have recorded in their career and should be placed along side the earlier classic albums. The band said that for this release they traced back to their musical roots and the bands that inspired them such as UFO, DEEP PURPLE, URIAH HEEP and the mighty KISS and it certainly shows in what is a heavier TREAT album than we are used to.

They should be proud of what they have done here. More please….
