MARK KNIGHT & THE UNSUNG HEROES To Release “SIXTH TIME’S THE CHARM” On July 15th

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Mark Knight and his band, The Unsung Heroes, announce the release of their new album, Sixth Time’s the Charm, from Knifewound Records on July 15, 2025.

Produced by Knight and primarily recorded at Knight’s Los Angeles home studio, Sixth Time’s the Charm features 11 new songs written and composed by Knight.  Adam Hamilton (L.A. Guns) provided additional recording, engineering and mixing at his Palm Ranch Studio.

Sixth Time’s the Charm is Knight’s eleventh studio album and the fifth release with his band, the revolving lineup of The Unsung Heroes featuring longtime drummer and original Bang Tango member, Tigg Ketler (Drums,) Damian Valentine (Bass) and Charles “Chuck” Cicirello (Rhythm Guitar/Backing Vocals.) Adam Hamilton provides additional drums and percussion, bass and piano.

On “Yaamava,” Brian Forsythe (Kix/Rhinobucket) takes over the guitar solo, while Wayne Lothian (The English Beat/General Public/MK & the Unsung Heroes) lends his soulful bass expertise.

In July 2024, Knight’s oldest daughter, Lucy-Bleu Knight, tragically passed away. Of the release, Knight shares, “All of the songs on this record were written and demoed while Lucy-Bleu was living back at home with us before she passed, and a lot of her struggles became my struggles, but there was a lot of joy and laughter in those times as well. Looking back, I realize she really was my muse for this record. Lucy-Bleu wove her way into the titles, the lyrics, the recording and now, into forever because that’s how long music lasts.”

Knight goes on to say, “I didn’t know I was going to lose her and be dedicating this record to her memory, but she was there throughout listening, laughing and poking her head in to tell me what she liked and didn’t.”

On his songwriting, Knight says, “I still write about the things that I’ve always written about. As life goes on, and it’s a little harder at some times more than others, I continue to strive for personal and musical evolution. Hopefully, I’m going in the right direction.”

Following a critically acclaimed early career as the founding member of ‘90s funk metal band Bang Tango, Knight has long since grown comfortable in his skin as a singer/songwriter, enabling us to reflect on our own years passed and futures to be had while presenting to us the unity of our experiences.

Knight currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with the great loves of his life: his wife, his ’69 Guild, 6 cats and a turtle.  Knight is an avid mountain biker, a talented designer and custom woodworker, and a passionate fan of music himself.

An acoustic record release party will be held at Pickwick Pub in Woodland Hills on July 15th from 7-10pm featuring special guest Blues Williams.
