I really should get out of under my little rock more often. Perth has some amazing talent, and its with heavy heart, that unfortunately Perth live venues are slowly diminishing for the original metal music scene. With Convenients closing their doors earlier this week, and the announcement late last month of Badlands Bar closing their doors, its a truly a very sad affair that this is one of the last shows these guys will get to play at the iconic venue. Having had the pleasure of performing there myself, it will be truly be missed. For those that continually support the original metal live music scene, thank you! If you want to get behind these talents, then make sure you head to their websites and buy their merch and music.

Oceans & Omens

Oceans & Omens
Opening up the night, was Oceans and Omens, with a five-piece metalcore band that involved the crowd in a mid set yoga session. There is a clear fan following here, and with a mixture of old-school and modern aussie metalcore sounds, they tell an intricate story about life, death, vengeance, remorse, and the cunning.

Kimura

When these guys walked on stage, I thought Holy Shit, Zakk Wylde is in the house, but he then went and picked up a bass. Commanding attention the minute they walked on stage, they captivated the crowd, with a punch in the face mesh of metal genres, there was no question that these guys know how to put on a show. If you’re a metal head and haven’t seen them yet, do yourself a favour and get out to one of their shows. You won’t be disappointed.

Buried Shallow

Buried Shallow

Having busted into the Perth Metal scene in late 2022, these down to earth talents have quickly gained traction with followers and respect within the metal community. With their debut, self-titled EP released on December 1 2023, they were fully pumped for this night. Show casing a blend of hardcore metal with death metal groove, their live performance revved the crowd up without question.

Celebrating with a new single ‘Its never going to be ok’ and video launch on the night, these guys are about to take on the world with their newly signed deal with US record label ‘Brutal Records’. Their new album ‘Tomorrow will be better’ is set to be released in Feb 2024 with worldwide distribution across multiple platforms, including CD and Vinyl, keep your eyes on these guys as they make waves globally. Adding new songs, never played live before, certainly got the crowd head banging in unison with the high intensity and energy these guys delivered.
