It was a year ago almost to the day since Southern Californian hardcore legends Stick To Your Guns were in Perth on their tour with Knocked Loose and here we are a year later, ready to witness the energetic rockers once again. This time in support of their new album “True View”, the band were backed by some great support including Being As An Ocean who together recently came off a sold out Unify Gathering show.

Tonight was Perth’s turn to witness some gigantic riffs as the Stick To Your Guns tour package hit town at the Amplifier and first to take to the stage was Perth band Vacant Home. Now I hate to kick off on a sour note and to be fair an opening space for any band is daunting at the best of times but these guys for me tonight felt a little flat, to put that into prospective I saw these guys pretty much a year to the day and the contrast between now and then was drastic but it just lacked punch and power so maybe next time.

Next to take to the stage was another Perth outfit Day Break, now anyone who has been following my reviews knows that I believe this band go from strength to strength and tonight was no exception. Bellowing and roaring up a proverbial storm, these guys were bringing there A game. Now this may sound a little out of place so just bare with me but for what ever reason just in sound and sheer brutality I was reminded of the Accacia Strain, believe me it was that heavy unreal! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this band aren’t to be taken lightly and are well worth checking out.

Next up was California outfit  Being As An Ocean, now this was my first time catching this band and for me they were the surprise package of the night blending intricate melody with blistering vocals. A prime example of this was the track “L’exquisite Douleur” and “The Poets Cry For More”, front man Joel Quartuccio was every bit in charge and the band as a whole looked and felt like they were enjoying their time on the stage. These guys are extremely talented and seemed to have the crowd spellbound with set closer “The Hardest Part Is Forgetting Those You Swore You Would Never Forget” the perfect way to bring on the final band of the night.

These Orange County natives need no introduction, Stick To Your Guns were here to bring the party and mayhem kicking off the set with the track “Amber” and “Married To The Noise”. Of note here was the band’s overall energy and banter with the now fever pitched crowd. Other stand out tracks included
“Doomed By You” and “We Still Believe” with the show getting to a point where the entire front row was moving in one way or another hanging off frontman Jesse Barnett’s every word. These guys are seasonal favourite’s, a brilliant effort tonight and Australia can’t wait for next time!
