EP REVIEW: Wicked – Rock N’ Roll

Wicked - Rock N' Roll

This is a story about a little band that could. They hail from upstate New York, Utica to be exact. To me they are what rock ‘n roll should be especially for this new generation. In a world filled with pop singers, American Idol and The Voice. Wicked offers you something none of the others do, a fresh perspective on a classic feel.

I don’t want to make this whole review about their look although they look like Motley Crue in 1982 except they’re all wearing white leather. It goes well beyond that with carefully crafted songs that are very anthemic in nature. Their debut LP offers up 30+ minutes of catchy hook driven rock ‘n roll.

For anyone that is reading this that is already a classic rock fan or metal fan. There’s an instant commonality and familiarity about this record. I hear The Ramones, Slade, Mott the Hoople, T Rex, David Bowie, Kiss, the New York Dolls and many others from that glam era.

My favorite keeps changing which is what tells me I really like the record. Currently as I write this “All American Rock ‘N Roller is the favorite track of mine off the record. If you’re one of those people who is always looking for something new in the rock scene, this band is a gimme. I will speak to those of you who are stuck in the 70’s and 80’s that think there still isn’t anything new out there worth listening to. You owe it to yourself to give Wicked a shot. You’ll be pleasantly surprised and thanking me. The question is, can Wicked save rock ‘n roll? You tell me.
