The Playbook announce new single reach and roll out Single release tour dates

The Playbook

The Playbook are anything BUT “by the book” – the five-piece pop punk outfit from Melbourne have been carving out their own niche and fanbase from day dot and doing it their way. A fiercely DIY ethic has ensured that they have won over a tonne of fans with hard work and an excellent live show.

Today, they are giving fans and the world the first taste of their new album “All I Am Is What You Left Behind” (which will see its release later in 2017!) with a song entitled “Reach” – a fast, driving, energetic song with that explores losing touch with someone you thought you could never live without, despite making every effort to continue the relationship that you thought was crucial to your existence. A film clip for the track will be released soon.

Add to that, the band will hit the road a number of times before the end of the year – and the first run of these shows happens late July/early August – Friday July 22 in Sydney at Factory Floor, Saturday July 23 at Wrangler Studios in Melbourne and Saturday August 5 at Foundry Records in Brisbane. The Playbook has an impressive resume of supporting international bands such as Real Friends, The Story So Far and Man Overboard, among others, and has also had a successful run of headline shows around Australia, with an energetic stage presence and a strong focus on crowd involvement – and this short run will serve to showcase the band’s excellent new material.

The new album has been 2 years in the making and is chock full of impressively fast musicianship, catchy choruses and big singalong hooks. The album’s lyrical theme centres around the concept of loss. Losing lovers, losing friends, losing people you care about, and the struggle to deal with these personal losses. The band has focused on a DIY approach to making this album – with drummer Stu Watts producing, recording and mixing the entire album. The album was then mastered at The Blasting Room by legendary punk rock engineer Jason Livermore (who has also worked with Descendents, Rise Against, A Wilhelm Scream and more). Release date for the album will be late in 2017!
