When the team at Rock Is Not Dead first planned their Melbourne festival, there was one name that came up instantly and that name is Karly Jewell. The Eastern Melbourne suburb pocket rocket and powerhouse was the first name of the list. Karly was invited to open the festival as a statement point, come out of the gates swinging and make a point and set the tone with intent.
Her “There’s a Jewell In Town” album placed itself at number 3 on the Australian Artist charts and her relentless touring ethic is nothing short of incredible. Karly Jewell simply lives, breathes and personifies the rock n roll spirit.
The Rockpit hasn’t caught up with Karly since the release of her album and we look back at the last twelve months and into the future as Karly & co are set to head off for their 5th tour of Japan this November.
Never one to sit on her hands, Jewell is heading back into the studio and it’s safe to say Rock Is Not Dead might just be the first to hear new material. Karly Jewell appears on Friday August 28 at The Prince Bandroom in St. Kilda Melbourne. Make you are there to witness what everyone else has been talking about.
