Much-loved Melbourne soul collective The Meltdown make their long-awaited return with a brand-new single, “It’s Too Late”, out today
It’s Too Late” is classic Meltdown – timeless music that melds the space and groove of classic soul with the rich storytelling traditions of the country realms. The song is rich with simmering horns, shimmering guitars and the warm pulse of the Wurlitzer piano, carried by frontman Simon Burke’s unmistakable soaring vocals.
The new song reflects on loss, acceptance and the passage of time – heartfelt ruminations of the human condition spun with honesty to forge a universal appeal. “It’s Too Late” radiates warmth and the flavours of The Meltdown’s signature blend of Southern soul, gospel and old school R&B.
“This track is about reaching that point where talking is futile and all that’s left is the feeling. It sets the tone for the forthcoming EP, which is filled with songs about holding on, letting go, and finding meaning in the middle of it all,” says frontman Simon Burke.
Honed by years of live performance, stemming from the fertile Melbourne soul scene where the band cut their teeth, The Meltdown have racked up more than 150 million streams globally over the various platforms and this November will see the band crack the European market with a fast-selling tour.
The Meltdown is Simon Burke (vocals, keys), Lachlan McLean (saxophone, horns), Hugh Harvey (drums), Tom Martin (guitar), Eamon McNellis (trumpet), and Ryan Monro (bass).
“It’s Too Late” will be available on all major streaming platforms from today, July 11.
