Buffalo, NY hardcore upstarts, SPACED, recently joined the Pure Noise Records roster and announced their upcoming EP, No Escape, due out October 17th. Now, they’re back with another new single, the hard-charging Pressure.

No Escape‘s five songs are packed with stomping riffs and psych-tinged aggression that offer a perfect introduction to SPACED‘s unique brand of self-proclaimed “far out hardcore” and Pressure showcases both the swirling textures and eye-bulging ferocity that define the group. The song follows lead single Cause and Effect (which garnered attention from the likes of Stereogum, BrooklynVegan, Revolver Magazine, and more) and packs a serious punch of phased-out guitars and groove-laden breakdowns.

Vocalist Lexi Reyngoudt‘s discussed the new song, calling it, “A karmic story/cautionary tale that if you tempt the fates, the universe is going to come back at you. Sometimes these people don’t get found out right away. So if the universe is taking too long with a person like this in your life, listen to this song. The track is us talking back to the people who try to hold us down. The lyrics are repetitive, but that’s what the feeling of pressure is: constantly feeling like something is weighing you down.”

SPACEDReyngoudt, guitarists Joe Morganti and Donny Arthur, bassist John Vaughan and drummer Dan McCormick—came out swinging in 2021 with a fully-realized sound that they’ve relentlessly honed in the ensuring years. Now No Escape makes good on that evolution, pushing both the heaviness and their unique effects-drenched textures even further than ever before. Recorded by producer Jay Zubricky (Every Time I Die, Terror, Age of Apocalypse) the EP captures the band’s freewheeling sonic attitude but also the defiant core at the center of Reyngoudt‘s lyrics. “[No Escape is] about feeling suffocated by our everyday lives. We grind and work our jobs while we’re home, and then grind some more out on the road. All of this is happening while the world feels like a daunting thundercloud over our heads. I wrote the lyrics of this album as an outlet to express my current feelings about what is going on. However, while I feel down about things like that, I still feel lucky to be surrounded by the hardcore community and people who will speak up with me.”

SPACED have also announced a massive run of Fall tour dates including shows with Terror, Squint, and Sissy Boys.
