KATHLEEN HALLORAN Unveils Raw and Reflective New Single ‘Cost of Living’ — Out August 13th

Kathleen Halloran returns with “Cost of Living”, a soaring and soul-baring new single that cuts to the heart of what it means to live a creative life on your own terms. It’s a song not just for musicians, but for anyone chasing down a dream in a world that doesn’t hand out roadmaps — artists, dreamers, anyone who’s risked stability for something less certain but more true. Known for her fiery guitar work and unflinching honesty, Halloran delivers a track that captures the emotional whiplash of being a creative — the ecstasy, the doubt, the magic, the mess.

Written from the eye of the storm, “Cost of Living” is Halloran’s most personal release to date. The youngest of nine siblings, she draws a vivid contrast between her unconventional path and the more traditional lives of her family — not with regret, but with reverence. “It’s a magical mystery ride — you are constantly transported to another time and planet. One night you’re unstoppable, like the world’s in the palm of your hand… then the next day…. how easily you can plummet back to the real world, wondering if it ever even happened. Sick of your own thoughts, exhausted by your own ambition,” she says. “But really, you wouldn’t change it for the world. It’s an all-in kinda thing… and that’s a beautiful thing.”

The track features a sweeping string arrangement by Ross Irwin (The Cat Empire, The Bamboos), adding cinematic depth to Halloran’s lyrical honesty and emotive guitar work. Following the success of “Free With Me” (#4 AIR Charts, Artist of the Week) and “Find Me Again” (PBS Feature Track of the Week, with rotation on RRR and ABC), “Cost of Living” further cements Halloran’s reputation as one of the country’s most captivating new voices.
