There are moments and conversations that you get to have with certain musicians that had a profound impact on own musical journey and shaped a genre of metal that is stronger than ever today. That genre is Power Metal. I had the extreme pleasure to chat with Ross “The Boss” Friedman founding member of Manowar who has his own band that plays respect to the songs and legacy to the band he founded.
In this conversation we talk all things from The Dictators to Manowar, the New York music scene in the mid seventies and most importantly we chat about this band that will start its four-date tour of Australia on May 1st in Brisbane. It’s hard to believe Ross is 71 years young, he shares that same passion for playing live he did when he started his career five decades ago. Ross proves age is just a number and the power of music is connective.
On this run of shows the 1984 masterpiece “Sign Of The Hammer” will be played in full along with classics from his nine-year tenure in Manowar. These shows are guaranteed to an all out assault on the senses and are not to be missed.
