IMPERATORE To Release New Album “The Lionspirit” – Out Jan 16th via Rockshots Records

From the heart of Perth’s vibrant rock scene, IMPERATORE return with “The Lionspirit“, their most ambitious and emotionally charged release to date. After the strong impact of their self-titled debut in 2023 – hailed for its originality and nominated by West Australian Music – and the conceptual expansion of “Nations, Rise!” in 2024, the band now reaches a new creative height. “The Lionspirit” elevates Imperatore’s distinctive fusion of heavy rock, progressive metal and operatic vocal expression while embracing an even broader symphonic palette and a philosophical depth that permeates the entire work.

Founded in 2022 by vocalist and guitarist Zoran Cunjack, Imperatore quickly gained recognition for their cinematic approach to modern rock blending powerful guitar work with orchestral layers, dramatic vocal delivery and a storytelling dimension that feels as visual as it is sonic. That creative identity fully blossoms on “The Lionspirit“, an album inspired by themes of courage, resilience, human fragility and inner rebirth with strong references to the teachings of Marcus Aurelius, Seneca and the Stoic tradition. Written by Cunjack together with long-time collaborator Rodion Farafontov, the record explores the struggle for self-mastery and the capacity to rise from adversity – elements that become the emotional backbone of the entire listening journey.

Musically, the album pushes Imperatore’s style into a territory that feels both grandiose and intimate: crushing guitars and symphonic arrangements merge with soaring operatic vocals, creating a sound that is rich, expressive and unmistakably personal. Tracks such as “Be A Man” and “Orion” channel the urgency of confronting fear and finding guidance in darkness, while “My Life” turns personal turmoil into catharsis through shifting melodies and haunting harmonies. “Treachery” dissects the wounds of betrayal and the path to reclaiming trust, whereas “Between the Worlds” opens a reflective, spiritual dialogue between the physical and ancestral planes. The journey continues with “Men of Pain” and “All of Us“, two songs that delve into shared struggle, collective empathy and the need for unity in the face of human vulnerability. The album culminates with “Il Gladiatore“, an operatic, Italian-sung finale that evokes themes of honor, destiny and sacrifice, echoing the grand tradition of epic storytelling.

Behind the album lies a carefully crafted production. Recorded and mixed by Rodion Farafontov and mastered by Simon Jovanovic, “The Lionspirit” combines clarity and weight, preserving the emotional nuance of Cunjack’s performance while enhancing the cinematic nature of the arrangements. The visual identity – shaped by Peter Renzullo (artwork and photography), Luca Gubbiotti (logo) and Angel Camilo / Dianoia Arts (layout) – completes a project conceived as a full artistic statement, extending the album’s conceptual world beyond the music itself.

The band’s lineup – Zoran Cunjack on vocals and guitars, Daniel Marijanovic on bass and Sean Allsopp on drums – delivers performances that amplify the record’s dynamic range, moving effortlessly between intensity, introspection and operatic grandeur. Their chemistry, paired with the album’s thematic weight, forms a sound that appeals to fans of Kamelot, Symphony X, Powerwolf and even Queen, while offering a distinctive identity rooted in emotional storytelling and philosophical reflection.

The Lionspirit” reaffirms Imperatore’s role as one of the most original voices in modern metal, a band capable of transforming deeply human introspection into a sweeping, theatrical and empowering musical journey. Through its exploration of resilience, self-reflection and the enduring fire of the human spirit, the album stands as a bold artistic statement – one that invites listeners to rise above turmoil, reclaim their inner strength and embrace the voice of the lion within.
