HOON Unleash Hard-Hitting Album ‘Speed and Fatigue’ And Announce Australian Tour Dates

Dharawal/Wollongong garage-punk outfit HOON unleash their new album ‘Speed and Fatigue‘, produced by Jeremy Player and The Shed Sound Laboratory (Pist Idiots, The Pinheads, Chimers), ahead of their extensive European and Australian tours throughout June, July and August.

‘Speed and Fatigue’ sees the beloved punk-rockers level up in both precision and power. Striking a satisfying balance of chaos and unadulterated emotion with searing fretwork, pummelling drums and biting social commentary, the album stands as a soundtrack for the frayed on the brink of collapse. With jagged punk at its core, the record pushes the group’s sound into sharper territory with brooding post-punk nuances and occasional hints of Brit-rock, all underscored by their familiar larrikin swagger.

HOON share the inspiration behind ‘Speed and Fatigue’: “‘Speed and Fatigue’ captures tension and humour from the edge of burnout, debt, and disillusionment in so-called Australia. We tore into the everyday absurdities of life under capitalism, from housing stress and wage stagnation to government contradictions, censorship and class privilege. This album is a vessel of personal and political frustration with a mix of sardonic humour, raw emotion and societal critique.”

Focus track ‘Trainspotting‘ is a cathartic cut of garage rock surging with anthemic chants, hellraising riffs and a thunderous rhythm section, begging to be screamed back with conviction. The record also features lead single ‘Simon Says‘ and guest vocals from Phoebe Price of Private Wives on ‘Hot Shot‘.

To celebrate the release, HOON are returning to Europe to unveil ‘Speed and Fatigue’ in all its raucous glory, with over thirty shows across Germany, Netherlands, Prague, France, Spain and Switzerland, including a special stop in Stuttgart (DEU) to support Slaughterhouse (USA). On their return to Australia, they will be playing eight shows across Eora/Sydney, Naarm/Melbourne, Meanjin/Brisbane, Cavanbah/Byron Bay, Yugambeh/Gold Coast, Kabi Kabi/Nambour, Corhanwarrabul/Tecoma and their hometown of Dharawal/Wollongong.

This follows performing with acts like Private FunctionBelair Lip BombsClowns, and Snooper (USA), packing out their eleven-date ‘Australian Dream‘ east coast headline tour, and appearances at LOW-L FEST (ITA), Great Southern Nights and last year’s BIGSOUND Showcase.

Singles off their debut record ‘Australian Dream‘ received widespread blog support from Pilerats, Backseat Mafia (UK/AUS), Tone Deaf, AAA Backstage, Something You Said, MILKY, Life Music Media and Illawarra Mercury. They’ve also received extensive radio love from Australian radio stations triple j, triple j Unearthed, FBi, 3RRR, PBS FM, 2SER, 4ZZZ, 2XX, RTR FM, Edge RadioRadio Adelaide, and NPR (USA).

HOON are incredibly passionate about building the arts in their hometown, and have run all ages festivals such as ‘All Of Us‘, ‘Crown Street Takeover‘, ‘Hoon-Fest‘ and ‘The Gong Crawl‘, the last of which had over 150 contributors, spanned ten venues, 60+ bands, DJs and an art exhibition. HOON have teased the return of ‘The Gong Crawl’ for 2025. The band’s not-for-profit organisation, Speed Drive INC, supports artists and musicians by providing them with performance and exhibition opportunities.
