Initially formed as a lockdown project by chief songwriter, guitarist and lead vocalist, Luke Smithson, after a stint on tour with The Quireboys, HEARTS & SOULS quickly gathered pace with Smithson enlisting guitarist and long-time friend, Tom Q Cusic. Having played together for two decades, the pair are a natural fit, akin to Richards and Wood, and Whitford and Perry. Additionally, Alan Sullivan, their seasoned bassist with his diverse eclectic career and experience, adds layering and bite to HEARTS & SOULS. Rounding out their rhythm section is Jimmy Milne, a longtime friend of Tom Q, whose talents have been utilised across Europe and North America, including spots at SXSW.
Successful live shows soon followed for the band as well as recording with producer Paul Guerin (Quireboys, Down N’ Outz), who crafted their Nights Of My Days EP, which was released in Spring 2023. Appearances at HRH Festival and opening for acts such as Wayward Sons supported the release, and soon after HEARTS & SOULS also landed an endorsement deal with Vintage guitars.
The UK rockers are ready for their next chapter, and are set to release their brand new single, Little While. Tom Q talks about the track: “It’s an ode to those who spend life on the road, be it musicians, HGV drivers, whatever – it’s an isolated, singular experience lived by many. We try to write about real life, our own experiences (good and bad), and this reflects something people can relate to, with a hint of optimism.” The song is a real benchmark for the band. With festival appearances, more shows and new music in the pipeline, HEARTS & SOULS is ready for action.
HEARTS + SOULS are: Luke Smithson – Lead Vocals, Guitars; Alan Sullivan – Vocals, Bass; Tom Q Cusic – Vocals, Guitars; Jimmy Milne – Vocals, Drums.
