EP REVIEW: Siobhan Cotchin – Miss Reckless

Based in Perth, Western Australia, 3-time WAM award winner Siobhan Cotchin is back, writing the next chapter in her musical career with her new grunge/rock inspired EP “Miss Reckless”.

“Miss Reckless” opens with a track called “If God Was A Man”. A track about “rejecting forced conformity” and staying true to yourself, Cotchin fearlessly expresses herself through her raw and unapologetic lyrics. Moving to the next track “Miss Reckless” from where the EP gets its name, has a real 90’s grunge feel to it and is about standing up for yourself and “rejecting other people’s expectations of you”.

“Cross the Line” is an emotional track written about unrequited love and being afraid to act on having feelings for someone. “How Does It Feel” describes how it feels to be in a relationship with someone that takes more than they give. Cotchin’s lyrics deliver emotional, raw honesty driven by a indie-rock sound behind her vocals.

“When The Curtains Close” is a vulnerable track written about letting go and trying to move on from people who cause pain. Taking inspiration from Taylor Swift and Phoebe Bridgers, Siobhan Cotchin combines powerful rock-chick energy with vulnerable lyrics of loss, anger, heartbreak and betrayal.

With the release of “Miss Reckless,” Cotchin has announced she will be supporting Matchbox Twenty and the Goo Goo Dolls in Perth as they tour across Australia spanning over ten massive arena shows in February 2024. If you’re a fan living in Perth, be sure to catch her live on the stage at RAC arena on the 13th of February.
