Hailing from Perth, Tied Down have developed their own unique blend of explosive and energetic rock that fuses punk, rap and indie-rock, and today they unveil their new track ‘Slow’. The track shines a light on their personal struggles with addiction and redemption.

Speaking about their new single, Tied Down says “Slow is definitely the most personal and emotionally-charged song we’ve written as a band to-date. It explores an adventure through addiction and coming out the other side of it, and the music is written in a way that reflects that, with some pretty heavy and emotional moments that really resolve in a positive, optimistic and opportunistic way. It’s a song that we feel will resonate with anyone who has experienced something similar and we hope that people can draw meaning from not only the lyrics, but the journey that the music takes them on as well.”

Writing and recording the track at Hopping Mouse Studios with producer Matt Templeman (Sly Withers, Voyager), and mastering by Simon Struthers (Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Karnivool, Something For Kate), Tied Down approached their latest single with the mindset of returning to touring.

“It started with a guitar riff which was born out of a bit of conflict in a pretty challenging time for the band, and it quickly became a great platform for all of us to get some things off our chests. We wanted the song to reflect that by giving each member and their instrument an opportunity to have a direct impact on the song. Given the feelings that were flying around the room, the lyrics seemed to come pretty easily to CJ and we all feel like the process of putting the individual pieces of the song together really brought us a lot closer together as a band.” Tied Down

Made up of CJ Russell on lead vocals, Stephen Daw on lead guitar, Kaden Barnett on rhythm guitar/vocals, Dean Cross on drums, and Daniel Dols on bass, Tied Down are inspired by the burgeoning Perth punk-rock scene. Following on from a solid run of sold out shows in 2020 with the likes of Sly Withers and Shangrila, the boys set their sights even higher in 2021, heading out on their first WA headline tour as well as supporting musical legends Hands Like Houses on every leg of their WA tour.

Tied Down will perform tracks from their EP and celebrate the release of their new single ‘Slow’ at Milk Bar in Inglewood on February 12.
