Iron Maiden - Senjutsu

You can’t miss the new Iron Maiden album! That is allowed only when you’re 20 and not paying attention to “El Dorado”, cos’ you’re livin’ the life according to their glorious, not wasted years….Their wild wind blows through the souls of those who wait for another and then another tour,  which now, in this horrible war we live in, needs another version;  an El Vivo in Chile!

Maiden surprised us with the prophetic lyrics, not only on the wall, by releasing their first single, which became a radio friendly song, not only on my weekend program.

The intro’s not British, that’s why they’re a worldwide act. In the video you can see an animated description of what the song’s about, before Bruce starts singing; no more empires, but a new beginning of slavery for those who are doomed to repeat history.

Just like their tempos slowin’ down- if you had their 2015 songs in mind, you grow and you learn, unless you don’t wanna hear the earthquake, you don’t wanna see the modern Babylon, the bad version of Hollywood because people don’t believe in sins anymore.

The prophecy is heard on the guitar solos that talk to you about The Deceiver and his Devil, hoping we’re not doing deals, so we won’t end up in those bloody images we tend to forget but the mind doesn’t sleep.

Senjutsu is the Japanese term, interpreted in the NWOBHM way of how they look at the war, at the sacrifices! Harris focuses there, never failing to deliver lyrics and like no other bass player who’s not the frontman, never failing to sing every word while playin’ live either.

Now, you miss Maiden, I do. We listen to the title track and think of when they’re gonna be back touring? Are they gonna play it?

They keep it up with the long songs again, long intros. Good or bad, you’ll know when you listen to it…..And for you, die hard fans, the drums tell you about your ancestors, about never surrendering to the enemy, no matter who that is, about telling your sons so the legacy can go on and man will inherit what’s given to him, rightfully. It’s a war hymn!

Kevin Shirley producing again, as you’re now in the insides of the album, you gotta have a strategic plan because “Stratego” just began. This one’s shorter, a sped up rhythm, you gotta think fast, because the Devil’s like that, the ocean’s black and you were not even there.

How long can you last in the battle? When do you lose your mind? Are you the madman? What are you missing the most? Are these Pink Floyd questions or you’re just hopeless in the war you were not thinking of? And you didn’t read those writings on the wall, playing with you in Time.

“Beyond the dark I feel the pain
It’s hidden but I can’t explain
A cross to bear ”

While you’re headed towards the prayers, understanding no one is immortal!

Are we, the metalheads, lost in today’s “art” stupidity? Or do we need to blast our speakers even more as the next track comes along?

The accoustic guitars ask you if you’re payin’ for the your ancestors’ sins or you’re just washin’ them away? As the harmonies are what you hear, you think, about places that mankind raped, in a non caring way that can’t go on, because you’re listenin’ to the words of the British lads that give us not only solos but words that can’t go overlooked. Hell no!

Not a love theme, “Days of Future Past” is a doomy Maiden song since it’s intro and even though the tempo immediately changes, you’re still a king without a queen, in the shadow…..

God will bring your last moments to you, as you wait for the judgement, talking to Jesus? Or thinking of your sins? No cross is enough sometimes, but the Prophets bled for us and we sing, while not by accident the song is short, because that’s how our last moments will be! You never know what the drama of your deadly sins will be and you never ever know how your past travels in your future, before your heart stops!

Is your silence the shield you want? Does this song take you to the unevitable darkness? Are the children evil? No song can answer to you, but warnings sure can. And Bruce sings about surreal moments! New wave is about opening your heart….never ever hesitate to do it!

The Messengers don’t live anymore but we do and that’s the test. It gets harder while the Adrian Smith solos take you far for a while, to send you back to Earth, hopefully with your heart opened.

How dark can it be, by the sea ? Very, or not at all. Depends on that heart of yours only.

Another warning, another war serenade; the Giant, before the Sun dies, before Jupiter moves on and you’ve already given your last breath!

The guitar licks fade away, like a cruel touch, as the long lasting solo is not only for headbanging.

While we’re slowly closing the vinyl time, the Celts have something to say, through the nylon guitar strings; will they die, in an Iron Maiden song? Or there’s no message behind it, just them? Nobody can answer.

“Patience is no sin”, words to remember as your fear strikes you, as you see your sword killing in a battle that doesn’t feel the Moon, that doesn’t know how The Deceiver will come, to save you or throw you in the lake of fire, without you knowing what that really is.

And the closure belongs to some riffs you’ve heard but you don’t exactly know in which album, you don’t exactly know what Hell on Earth can be like. I don’t wanna live that day but if I do, with a heart that’s brave and tender, a gift!

Double album; not very common but hey, it’s Maiden! They made us think since the beginning, the loudness of our exploding hearts went on decade after decade and now they give us more time to think, as everyone’s different, as the world we live in is crying but no one who stomps on her is listening. Doom’s day is not far. What’s written will take place and hopefully we will get to feel the lyrics of this new album, somewhere, in ancient memories we didn’t live, in a travel in Time!

8/10
