VIDEO: Biffy Clyro share new video for “Space”

Biffy Clyro today share a striking new video for their current single “Space”, from their new studio album ‘A Celebration of Endings’.

“Space” represents the album’s stripped back, emotive centrepiece. It’s a song that’s taken on a fresh relevance since it was written, with the lyrics “No matter the distance between us… Will you wait for me?” standing out at a time when so many people are still separated.

The accompanying video features frontman Simon Neil as one-half of a couple, whose rain-soaked and carefully choreographed moves operates as a metaphor for those rare relationships that endure and prosper as the years pass. It was directed by Joe Connor, whose previous credits include The Rolling Stones, Coldplay and Sam Smith, and choreographed by the Olivier Award winner Steven Hoggett.

“’Space’ is the most unashamedly sincere song,” said Simon Neil in a track-by-track interview with NME. “It’s about those people that when you come back to them, nothing’s ever changed, you feel comfortable, and you feel the same way you always did. Musically it felt important to keep this simple. The album is quite complex musically, and this song is the first time that it takes a wee breather.”

‘A Celebration of Endings’ was released last Friday and emerged to the strongest reviews of the band’s career.  The consensus praised the album’s eclectic style and uplifting positivity at a time when such an outlook is desperately needed. The band subsequently celebrated its release with a worldwide livestream performance, which was full of innovative visual flair and high-end production values.
