The first question people ask me is how does Static-X sound considering that Wayne Static died more than 5 years ago?  I don’t have an answer for them because I never saw them perform with Wayne Static so I can only give you my perspective from the here and now. The band is strange yet wonderful at the same time. People didn’t seem to  care because the place was packed. If you are a fan of their music, I would think you would love this. The band reunited for the 20th anniversary of their debut album “Wisconsin Death Trip” and from what I could see they delivered exactly what the crowd came for.

Earlier in the night, the first band up was Raven Black. New comers to the scene, they were really entertaining. The lead singer Raven Black was fun to watch. I would have to sit down and listen to their songs to give you more perspective, but they seemed to be a great addition to this bill.

Next up was Wednesday 13, that was very entertaining as well, with lots of visual effects. The one bummer was the lighting was so bad for the first 2 bands, they were very hard to see so some of the impact was lost. I get the whole metal/goth thing but turn up the lights a bit, will ya fellas?

Third up is a band I was very familiar with, Dope. Incredible live band with great songs and lots of energy. They did have one thing the other bands did not, gratitude. Not to say the other bands were not grateful to be there but Dope spoke to the audience. Talking about their history with Static X and how far they have come as a band. I may be old but I like when the bands talk to the audience and thanks them for being there. To me that is really cool.

Second on the bill was another band I had seen before, Mushroomhead. They are the rivals of Slipknot some will say but I don’t see it that way. All I know is they are so entertaining and every time I see them they seem to make the production bigger. I always look forward to seeing them and the audience loved them, to me Mushroomhead is the type of band that makes this genre of music so special. A few years ago their bus broke down right outside of my office and they were stranded there for a few day. I got to know them a bit and I can say, they are all really cool people as well.

Over all for a ticket price of $30, you can’t beat a lineup like this.  It’s an old school metal show that gives you every pennies worth, I recommend you look up each one of these bands and support them.
