After completing a successful tour with ILL NINO, as part of their ’15 Years of Revolution’ Anniversary Tour in U.S.A., VTT released a new full length album, ‘The Sun Shining Cold’ which was produced by Ill Nino vocalist Christian Machado. We take a look at the new tracks on offer.
The Sun Shining Cold by Voodoo Terror Tribe is truly something terrifying and possibly something borne out of the depths of Dante’s inferno. Being kicked over by a heavy barrage of 12 gauge string guitars, screams of anguish and artfully chanted glam vocals – it’s a surprise the band didn’t play at Satan’s wedding (like we would ever know).
From start to finish is pretty much heavy metal, each track is equally consistent and more or less supplements what a metal/heavy rock fan is looking for. You can tell the album was probably made in a lair of some kind, judging from the echoed vocals found at the end of ‘Under the Knife’, it seriously feels like a member of the band was yelling down a well.
Perhaps they were yelling potential medical treatments to their injuries from moshing too hard and falling down a well (someone call Cerberus, lassie’s hell-hound cousin).
Amidst all the wailing and infectious (no, possessive) vocals the album takes an odd turn with ‘Pussy’, where the intro pulls into a catchy drum machine beat. At first you think, is this album an 8-bit video game? Wrong, they are just throwing you a red herring; you are immediately thrown into the heavy metal environment once more. You did miss the 8-bit drum beat though.
A great soundtrack for demon summoning, Ouija board Tupperware parties and generically tending to the undead – it’s an album for metal heads and the occult alike. Be sure to catch these guys live, you can guarantee to be greeted with a sweaty, satisfying mosh pit – and maybe chant a demonic sermon or two to get into the mood. The final verdict is Van Helsing wouldn’t have it on his Ipod, but Dr Frankenstein might.
