The Black Wreath announce new Headquarters in Alice Springs

A Black New Era is Upon Us!

As lightning cracked across the skies of the Dead Centre of Australia, The Black Wreath announced the opening of their new headquarter.

Coinciding with the labels sixth birthday, the opening was celebrated with a performance that was broadcast live on 8CCC radio. Local acts SNAKES, Hellmachine, The Holy Dimes and Badmaths played to an ecstatic crowd.

The Black Wreath took over the building in the industrial area at the beginning of the year. Since then, they’ve worked day and night, fitting out the entire place; hammer, nail and black paint. The renovated space features a recording studio, rehearsal room, workshop, screen-printing facilities, film studio, gallery and events space.

The label and collective are also behind the annual Blacken Open Air festival, which has become the premiere Australian heavy metal event on the national calendar. Applications to perform at the 2018 event have just closed, with over 170 applications received nationwide.

Label founder Pirate said “Growing up in Alice Springs we were always severely limited in musical opportunities. With limited places to perform, rehearse or record. Yet despite the obstacles, artists here have always persevered. This new chapter is a lifelong dream realised. It enables us to take the Central Australian music scene to new heights. From musical conception to performance, recording and release, the building brings together all aspects of the music industry under a single roof. After operating from various private backyards around town, we can finally open our doors to the wider community and share the knowledge and resources we’ve built up over the last six years.”

The rehearsal space has already become popular, with many local bands utilising the room. To inquire about the space for groups or individuals, call The Black Wreath on (08) 8990 0044.
