THE OCEAN
Launches Live Video For Rhyacian

The Ocean

Germany’s premier post-metal act The Ocean has started work on a new album, to follow-up their latest release: 2015’s split EP with Japanese post-rock legends Mono, entitled Transcendental.

In anticipation of the upcoming full-length record, The Ocean has launched a new live video for the track “Rhyacian”, which is taken from 2007’s Precambrian.

Filmed at the Brick by Brick in San Diego, CA, the video can be viewed here

Prior to Transcendental, The Ocean released their sixth full-length in 2013: Pelagial – which was hailed as the group’s “most ambitious record to date” (HeavyBlogIsHeavy.com).

Over the course of the crushingly massive record, “tender piano interludes get stomped on by Mastodon-shaped footprints, lush strings work next to bulldozing double-kick work, and, at the end, the submarine crashes at Melvins tempos” (Spin.com). Since the album and EP’s release, the group has toured the world in support of them, earning much praise for their mesmerizing live shows.

EVOCATION
Launch Behind-The-Scenes Video For New Album The Shadow Archetype

  Evocation

On March 10th, Evocation will celebrate their return to death metal with the stunning new album, The Shadow Archetype!

While honoring their Swedish death metal roots, The Shadow Archetype also adds thrash metal elements to their addictive, heavy sound.
For a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album, Evocation has now released a video with excerpts from the studio and in-depth explanations from guitarist Marko Palmen:

Featuring a cover and layout by Xaay (Behemoth, Nile, etc.), The Shadow Archetype was recorded at three different studios. Backing vocals, mixing and mastering were done at Dugout Productions. Daniel Bergstrand handled the recording of backing vocals and mixing. George Nerantzis handled the mastering. Drums were recorded at Crehate Studios together with studio engineer Oscar Nilsson. The Shadow Archetype also features veteran drummer Per Moller Jensen (ex-The Haunted, ex-Invocator) on session drums. Per sets a new death metal standard on the new Evocation album with his complex, yet groovy drumming, which we know well from his time in The Haunted. Guitars, bass, and lead vocals were recorded by the band in their own studio, Acacia Avenue Recordings. “We started recording the drums in late June 2015 and did the last recordings with vocals in June 2016. So, we spent roughly a year in the studio with ‘The Shadow Archetype‘,” explains Palmen. “In my opinion, the production is our strongest so far. It has all the elements I want in a production; raw brutality with a distinctive punch!”

The Shadow Archetype track-listing:

  1. Into Ruins
  2. Condemned To The Grave
  3. Modus Operandi
  4. Children Of Stone
  5. The Coroner
  6. The Shadow Archetype
  7. Blind Obedience
  8. Survival Of The Sickest
  9. Sulphur And Blood
  10. Imperium Fall
  11. Dark Day Sunrise

SIX FEET UNDER
Launch New Track, The Separation of Flesh from Bone

Six Feet Under

On February 24th, Six Feet Under returns with their 12th studio album, Torment, and a new leap in intensity.

There’s plenty of classic Six Feet Under groove to be had on Torment, but fans will note a much more aggressive approach, and even more blast beats throughout.

This is a cantankerous Six Feet Under with absolutely nothing to prove. This is Six Feet Under at their most deadly.

To hear the new album track, “The Separation of Flesh from Bone”, see below:

Torment was brought to life by Chris Barnes with bassist/guitarist Jeff Hughell (Brain Drill) shouldering the load of writing the music, along with heralded drummer Marco Pitruzzella (Brain Drill, Anomalous, Sleep Terror). The combination of Barnes’ multi-decade death metal experience and the speed and precision of Hughell and Pitruzzella’s relative youth go a long way to cementing this as a solid foundation for high level death metal. Chris Barnes elaborates: “I’ve been lucky to have a lot of standout albums in my career. That’s only because I’ve had a great many talented writing partners and musicians to collaborate with. Our new album, ‘Torment‘, to me, is one of those albums. Jeff Hughell has provided the flammable material for me to write some explosive lyrics and vocal parts to. I know people always say, ‘this is my best album ever’, and I won’t say that, because everyone has their own favorites, but I do enjoy creating new music, and I feel as though with this one we expressed concisely and to the fullest the duality of our music.”

On February 24th, AntropomorphiA returns with their latest collection of gospels of the obscene: Sermon ov Wrath.
For a preview of the album, the new single, “Crown Ov The Dead” (featuring guest vocals by Dool‘s Ryanne van Dorst), can be heard here:

AntropomorphiA‘s Ferry Damen comments: “The compositional approach ov this audial incantation was very instinctive, and although it wanders from the traditional framework,

it is the continuation ov our path, and breathes AntropomorphiA to the fullest.”

Featuring artwork by 13 Candles Tattoo/Madeleine Hoogkamer, Sermon ov Wrath was once again recorded at drummer Marco Stubbe’s Aftermath Studio, and then mastered by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio, giving the album a savage, crushing sound. CUT UP
Reveal Details For New Album, Wherever They May Rot

  Cut Up

On March 24th, Cut Up will release their highly anticipated second album, Wherever They May Rot, worldwide via Metal Blade Records!

Just as brutal as its predecessor, 2015’s Forensic Nightmares, Wherever They May Rot offers a rougher edge and is catchier overall.

Let the Swedes unscrew your head here
https://soundcloud.com/metalbladerecords/cut-up-from-ear-to-ear

Cut Up guitarist/vocalist Andreas Bjornson comments: ‘Wherever They May Rot’ is an utter bloodbath from start to finish. We have managed to push the savagery even further than before, also broadening our sound without compromising one inch of aggression. Everyone has performed at the top of their game and the new songs are without a doubt the strongest we’ve ever created, reaching new heights in both speed and heaviness. We have sharpened our blades and the thirst for blood is unquenchable. The year of 2017 belongs to Cut Up!”
