Following impressive debut EP See What I Want To See, Melbourne outfit Self Talk  release brand new single ‘Old Habits’ and kick it in the guts with a single launch on Friday April 21.

This neatly packaged matter-of-fact rock track is an ode to relationship-routine traps. Vocalist Stacey Cicivelli hammers the message home in the chorus, “dive back into old habits, and maybe we’ll die right here on the mattress.” Featuring a palpable twangy guitar riff and a guest appearance from a friend who plays cello in the bridge this track is full of surprises.

Lyrically, Self Talk are adding to their Melbourne contemporary’s proverbial millennial poetry book of Australian life. And it’s turning heads. Recently supporting the likes of Ceres and Luca Brasi, the band have also received airplay on triple j and praise from the likes of Tone Deaf & The Music.  With a 90s influenced wistfulness threaded throughout their sound, Self Talk are inspiring through heartache and hindsight, nostalgia and new beginnings.

Self Talk launch ‘Old Habits’ at the Grace Darling Hotel on Friday 21 April. Tickets are $10 on the door.
