ALBUM REVIEW: The Parasite Syndicate

[self released] - February 24th 2017

The Parasite Syndicate

“This phenomenal debut album is a hard hitting slab of savage, bleak metal that seamlessly blends melodies  and raw emotions, dark and delicious music with huge riffs and a pounding backbeat, an enticing glimpse into  what’s to come from this exceptionally talented band in the future”.

That press release pretty much sums up this debut self titled effort from UK metal band The Parasite  Syndicate who have created here not only a sonically pleasing album but a nicely groove oriented bunch of  songs. There’s plenty of melody too and the vocals mostly stay on the clean side, only ever straying away to  more harsher singing when the time calls for it in the song. Not that it matters much as the riffs and a  crystal clear drum sound pretty much drive everything like a well oiled machine, from the opening track “All  That We Have” to the more proggier “Ghost” and the fast paced and energetic ender “The Illusionist”.

The guitar tone is great too and works really well at the low ends with the more hardcore riffs, the  melodies can sometimes take a little away from overall tone of the song when you start getting into the meat  of the songs and occasionally the band will wander off completely like in the more mellower stuff like  “Animus” but it’s a small detractor from the majority of the songs that just groove nicely and is what  appears to be the core foundations of the bands sound.

The Parasite Syndicate have kicked things off nicely for a debut album and if it’s any indication of where  they plan to take their music, then we could potentially be hearing a lot more noise from these guys in the  near future.
