Motörhead – Clean Your Clock (Live in Munich)

UDR - May 27th 2016

On the 16th of MAY 2010, we lost RONNIE JAMES DIO the greatest heavy metal singer ever. On the 28th of DECEMBER 2015, we lost LEMMY the granddaddy of heavy metal, former member of HAWKWIND and legendary founder of MOTORHEAD. Members of that band came and went over the years but LEMMY remained. He WAS MOTORHEAD. He WAS rock `n` roll.

Recorded in MUNICH just a couple of weeks before he died, this is a fitting tribute to a great man, a great band in their best surroundings….live.

The air raid siren starts. One word BOMBER, then all hell breaks loose. This is a run through of everything you would expect, classic tracks and a few later ones thrown in for good measure. They were more than just “that song” The final incarnation of the band (PHIL CAMPBELL & MIKKEY DEE) have been together for 23 years so the playing is as tight as you would expect. The only quibble you can have is that some other faves aren`t here ((WE ARE) THE ROAD CREW, IRON FIST etc.) but that would be churlish.

Sometimes the vocals sound a bit lost and that may be the mix, it may have been his illness or it may have been the stream I’m listening to, but LEMMY`S humour is still there. ORGASMATRON still sounds menacing, NO CLASS is still one of the best songs they ever wrote and OVERKILL is still the best song  to end a show.

An excellent live album, still second to the legendary ‘NO SLEEP `TIL HAMMERSMITH’, but a fitting epitaph to a great band all the same.

Buy it and play it loud, It`s what LEMMY would want.
