At Depths – At Depths (EP)

Self-Released - November 23rd 2016

West Australian progressive metalcore band At Depths have dropped their debut self titled EP. Describing themselves as a band that not only keeps up with the ever demanding progression of the music industry, but also stays in touch with the styles of music that made the band who they are today. We find out more about the musical chops of the band as we dig into their new songs.

With nothing but sheer determination and little fan fair Perth 5 piece band At Depths have dropped a banger of an EP, kicking proceedings off with opening track “Erratic” with razor sharp riffage and a sample that comes booming across saying “I said your F’N baby’s gonna to burn!”. With that opener you know your in for one hell of a ride!

“Secrets” is a bit more of a melodic affair with break downs aplenty and deathcore vocals in parts. “Interlude” is a break from the carnage with an eerie voice over while “Anthropocene” starts off fairly gently with soaring vocals and by now trademark guitars and bass lines. By this stage my head is spinning and I’m thrown into the track “Friction”, more savagery ensues at a frantic pace – “Corrode” is anthemic and I can picture a packed room singing along with every note and guitar note.

Overall a solid effort and I would encourage you to grab this album and if these guys are playing at a club near you go and check them out. Are they our next home grown heroes? You be the judge.
