ROCK IS NOT DEAD : THE AWAKENING festival at The Brightside in Brisbane August 30 will be a night to be remembered. Not only will it showcase some of this country’s finest original and independent rock bands. It also sees a couple of tribute projects playing on the night. Dio Rising is one of them and it’s also a new project for Bobby Miller who has such a long history in our musical culture.
This is the second ROCK IS NOT DEAD FESTIVAL and the feedback from the first one was incredible and showcased so many amazing local, independent Queensland bands. With this second instalment we see three bands from the south of the country make the trek up to be what is becoming one of the most talked about festivals in the country. Andrew Slaidins sat down with Bobby to check in and find out everything you need to know about Dio Rising.
From the exceptional players he has recreating this timeless legends music to how he approaches the music of Ronnie James Dio. We dive into Bobby’s other projects and his history as well. Dio Rising are set to be one of the must see artists (they all are) at ROCK IS NOT DEAD : THE AWAKENING. This is a band that I am so excited to see. They are on early in the day and will certainly turn heads and make them bang along too. This is the live debut of Dio Rising so Brisbane you are in for a treat and their set is not to be missed.
