LIVE REVIEW: My weekend with Buckcherry. Headlining a casino in Wisconsin and headlining music festival in northern Minnesota 7/21-7/22.

I’ve reviewed Buckcherry many times before, for The Rockpit. I will continue to do so but this is more of a pictorial review than anything else. If you don’t know who Buckcherry is by this point, what’s wrong with you? They may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but I happen to believe they are one of the best rock and roll bands out there. Non-stop hard-working group of guys that believe in what they are offering fans. What is it that they are offering? easy answer, fantastic songs with incredible hooks and melody you can sing along to, hard driving loud guitars and really entertaining live shows. What more could you want?

They are currently on they are Hellbound 2022 tour. Ironically that is the name of their latest release. My understanding is they are finishing up shows in the West throughout the rest of the summer and then heading to Australia and a few other places in the late fall. After that they go back in the studio record a new album. Before you know it, they’ll be back on the road next year with new material. They changed up the set list both nights. It’s another thing I appreciate about Buckcherry, they’re always moving the set around period of course they’re always going to play specific songs you expect them to play. But for me the magic of the shows or when they switch a few songs out. Two that stood out for me this time were “Porno Star”, “No More Lies”, and “Tight Pants”. I know I’ve mentioned one of these songs before that happens to be one of my favorites. I’m treatment the band is tired of me requesting it. But I don’t care I’m going to continue to do so.

Anytime I hear someone complain that rock is dead, I just hand him a copy of Hellbound. The fact that people believe that rock is dead is almost insulting to me and should be for all the bands like Buckcherry that are out on the road, making new music and touring. I can’t imagine you would be reading any of the reviews on this website or following it at all if you weren’t someone who’d loved music. I ran across an idiot online this week that said that this band was over when Keith left. What a load of bullshit. This band has continued to get better. I’ve seen every version, and this is by far the best one.  Buckcherry has always been bigger than the sum of its parts. Not to mention that the writing continues to be strong. These songs are truly clever with a lot of great hooks. Don’t be one of those morons who thinks the last record they put out that was good was their second album Over 20 years ago. If anything in my opinion they’ve continued to get better and grow as a band over the years.

Now that the pandemic is over, a lot of bands are finally starting to tour again. If you want them to continue to do so, get off the couch and get out there and see them play live. Sometimes I wonder if people have just gotten so complacent because of the whole covid thing that they forgot what it’s like to go out and enjoy live music. Trust me you will be so happy that you made your way out again to do so. If they are coming anywhere near you the rest of this year, I highly recommend you go out and buy their new album then go to one of the shows. This is a band that deserves your respect and your attention.
