Cheap Trick - In Another World

The name looks funny but it’s their sense of humour that travels through the decades, making it last in Rock N’Roll !

Illinois is famous for lots of artists, with Cheap Trick being very interesting in the times we live in; they keep on publishing albums, sometimes twice a year! It’s impressive, knowing how the state of pop rock is, but their smartness is revealed since their beginning…

Not taking a trip to their 70’s, even for you that have no idea what Cheap Trick represents, cos’ the new album says it better, in a short, yet sweet-thoughts, futuristic sentence, “In Another World”!

I would buy it, starting with the first single, “Boys and Girls and Rock N’ Roll”….it’s simple, yet rhythmic, not very long, yet a party-opener ! Give it a listen and you’ll be headed to the shop to buy the cd, or better yet, the vinyl!

And for those of you that love their 80’s videos, the high- heel women and the cheesy lyrics, you can’t expect anything else than a beautiful release, in a world crisis, when we lose hope very fast….but as the ballads make you dive in your misery and that’s alright, the highly energetic tunes give you the drive to look at the sunny realities of your forever blue windows of that other world.

In 2012, they were singing about Snow, Christmas, warm fire places and a cozy life indoor, but now we’re going towards summertime, and even though it’s almost a decade, they have no signs of growing old.

“The holidays wait for you” – are the words guys should tell girls, only to make them feel great, and that’s part of the opening track of the rockers’ new album; a beautiful rhythm that deserves exclamation points only !

And what do you do at a rock gig? You headbang but you can’t imagine one without the ballads…..

And how do you listen to an album? With positivity, dancing, but you need that slow-tempo song. Why? To be more thoughtful when you give your word to that woman you Love. Imagine her caressing your body and set your mind at ease, sing about Hippie- related words, happiness, be free….. think of what makes you feel loved!

But Love takes you to the parties that you can’t live without; the drum beat of Bun E. Carlos and that of Daxx are fast when you want them fast, as the nurses that the singer wants, are those of Alice Cooper’s performances, so yes, the party is pretty wiiiiild! But the indulgements of the party makes the dude ask her to be by his side when the party’s over….hope she’ll be there, otherwise he’s damned to live alone!

“Final Days” remind me of how Whitesnake think of it, with their Volcanic wilderness and thoughts that can not go overlooked, but we’re in Illinois, at the listening party of Cheap Trick’s new album, with the tempos changing, enough to make you consider it already as one of their great albums!

I love the dudes’ simplicity, when inducted at the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame! Their speeches just make you love them more and yes, waiting for that ticket to go see them live; I haven’t yet, but I know lots of you have and we’ll meet there, to see them perform “He’s a whore” and “Candy” and “Southern Girls” and wherever would they be, without the fans’ love…..

Goodbyes are for accoustic intros, as sometimes even Zander and Nielsen become serious, with the wit of the bass genious named Tom Petersson, who is crucial in the outfit that takes us to their sensitive sides of the character, as to remind us that it’s not everyday you fall in Love, kid . It’s very Beatles oriented, that’s why you can travel to Asia and not only, to get to know the expanded realities that will give your heart the sleepless nights that ain’t a cliché, if you intend to really go and talk to her.

You do that, only if she lights up the fire in you, no other alternative considered. So girls, do what you can for the men you really want for life, cos’ it is really short….but for now, we’re in the flames of their way energetic tune, “Light Up The Fire”!

Another song on the album will remind you and those young kids, that they can’t say they’re living life, unless they’ve watched Bogart say “Here’s lookin’ at you, kid” to Bergman in the movie!

In the end of the album, which only starts the countless times you listen to Cheap Trick, the guy is sure he’ll see her again, no matter how wicked or cold as ice she thinks she can play the role of that kind of girl.

Why?! Cos’ guys live in confusion without truths and only women make it possible, by sheltering what’s raw, tenderly, cos’ they see further, they don’t see borders, only beyond fantasy realities that wait….and someday they will be revealed, living through, with and in Love!

9/10
