KADAVAR (& The Cosmic Riders Of The Black Sun) release live cut of ‘You Found The Best In Me, KORPIKLAANI unveil lyric video for ‘Land Of Thousand Drinks’, STRIGOI present first single ‘Phantoms’.

Berlin, Germany-based rock overlords KADAVAR have released a live cut of the song ‘You Found The Best In Me’. The footage comes off the bonus Blu-Ray (see formats below) included on the band’s eagerly awaited new album, »For The Dead Travel Fast«, which includes the full set of the band’s special Berlin show earlier this years, featuring a group of friends and fellow musicians, comprised as THE COSMIC RIDERS OF THE BLACK SUN, performing KADAVAR songs with more instruments and arrangements.

Commented singer/guitarist Lupus: “The thought of performing our songs with more musicians had been in the back of my head for a long time. A lot of the songs we’ve written over the years just needed a second guitar or an organ. Together with our friends we worked on this concert over 10 months. It’s not your normal KADAVAR gig, but it shows our songs can be interepreted in new ways and can also get that new twist.
One of my highlights was the duet with Laura Carbone and her incredible voice. That’s exactly how I had always envisioned this songs to sound. For me personally, it was an important project, to look through each and every of our 4 albums and to learn songs that we haven’t played since their initial recordings. It helped a lot to find the right way for our new album!”

Korpiklaani

The Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI release a lyric video for their new single ‘Land Of A Thousand Drinks’ to celebrate the start of their US tour, which kicks off today in Tampa, Florida. The track will be available digitally next week, on September 27th, but you can already watch the new clip here.

The band scomments: “There is a little story about ‘Land Of A Thousand Drinks’, which began at the end of the “Kulkija” recording sessions. We had always planned for ‘Juomamaa’ to have English lyrics, however just decided to keep the original and have the whole album in Finnish. After many travels & tours, we met our friends from THE 69 EYES this year at Metalfest CZ. A thousand drinks later, shared beds and many good ideas, Jyrki and Jonne came up with a ‘Land Of A Thousand Drinks’. This is a song about being with good friends and traveling around the world. Hellraisers & Drinkers Cult”.

Strigoi

Only few days after PARADISE LOST guitarist Greg Mackintosh put to rest his side project VALLENFYRE, that helped him to overcome the death of his father John, a new ghost appeared in the fog and STRIGOI was born. With an approach that was as nihilistic and crusty as it was cinematically grand, this dire spirit rises from it’s crypt and prepares to unleash its debut album to the world on November 22nd. »Abandon All Faith« is a bonecrushing beast comprising old-school death metal, grindcore and haunting left turns, which conjure feelings of both dread and hostility and is laced with Mackintosh’s trademark lead guitar lines and biting death metal roar.

Named after the troubled spirits in Romanian mythology who could rise from the grave and assume an entirely different form, STRIGOI’s lineup is rounded out by former EXTREME NOISE TERROR and VALLENFYRE bass player Chris Casket, who was also responsible for the project’s lyrics. Mackintosh gave him simple thematic guidelines: Attack organized religion, sparingly discuss grief and dive into the countless horrible things humanity continues to inflict upon itself.

The resultant 12-song-debut »Abandon All Faith« was recorded and mixed at Greg’s Black Planet Studio between January and March 2019 and today, the English duo unveils a hauting music video directed by Ash Pears. Designed in the same black and white vein of the band’s overall look, ‘Phantoms’ will clearly evoke some ghosts:
