Mel: Hi Its Melisa from the Rockpit

Chris: Oh, hi good to hear from you.

Mel: How are you?

Chris Great, How are you?

Mel: I am great thank you for asking.

Mel: Trapt are coming back to Australia for a tour in February, you were first here in July 2017. How was your first tour to Australia?

Chris: Oh we had a blast, fans there love their rock. All the fans there that came to every show knew all the songs. So it was really cool to see the camaraderie and how deep they know our music.

Mel: Yeah because it was your first time in Australia, I would have been the same. What songs do you play when you’ve never been in the country before. It would have been quite the experience.

Chris: Yeah you know we figured, we did a well rounded set from the beginning to the end.

Mel: Excellent, will you be able to get in some sight seeing while you’re here?

Chris: Yeah, you know, I want to see the Sydney Opera House this time I didn’t get to see last time so definitely wanna go hang out there. I want to see beach stuff, hang out at the beach, we don’t have too much planned so definitely want to do the beach.

Mel: Well you’re coming here at the right time for a beach visit definitely. February is one of our hottests months.

Chris: Right on.

Mel: So this tour you’ll be playing hits from your self titled debut album Trapt. What else can fans expect on this tour?

Chris: We are going to do some acoustics now, a few different versions of songs and we will probably break out a new song or two. But definitely for most of it will be the hits and new stuff.

Mel: Oh great! So fans are going to be able to hear some new stuff from Trapt.

Chris: Oh yeah we’ve got an album coming out summer, well mid this year in about 5 months so we are excited, so we are gonna pull out [them] while we are in Australia.

Mel: Great, that’s really exciting for fans. So how long have Trapt been playing together and what do you think has been the key to making it successful?

Chris: Well Trapt, we started in the summer of ‘97’ and we basically got signed in September 2001 and we have been ever since.

Mel: Wow and what do you think has been the key to making it successful?

Chris: I don’t know, you know the fans. They dig our music, they inspire us to keep going and they give the band ammunition to keep kicking ass, you know.

Mel: Awesome and what would be your proudest achievement with Trapt?

Chris: Just to keep doing what we do, you know. Making music into a career.

Mel: Awesome yeah, I think that is a lot of peoples dream to make music a career and make it reality, that would be the biggest achievement. So whats the most valuable advice you’ve ever been given?

Chris: Just to make sure the music you’re making is as good as the music that got you into playing music in the first place. Is what you created as exciting as what got you into it.

Mel: Now what has been the craziest fan encounter you have experienced?

Chris: Well there was this one time in Charlotte, North Carolina, a woman that was very large got on the stage and tried to hang out and the security people were going to try tackle her. She thought it would be easier to just jump into the crowd, do some crowd surfing and when she jumped in nobody went to catch her so she just belly flopped. She didn’t get to hurt but it was pretty intense.

Mel: [laughs] Oh no!

Chris: Yeah it was bad.

Mel: Yeah and quite embarrassing for her as well [laughs].

Chris: Oh man yeah. Must have been pretty drunk, dude.

Mel: So if you were able to trade places with any band past or present, who would it be?

Chris: The Beatles!

Mel: The Beatles! What would be the reason?

Chris: They were the first band that was really huge in America. Everyone else was playing tiny theatres and they were the first cats to play stadiums.

Mel: Yes true. So what would be your guilty musical pleasure?

Chris: Oh man I have nothing to say to that. If it’s good its good.

Mel: Yep.

Chris: I’m not guilty about anything.

Mel: If you could collaborate with any musical artist, who would it be?

Chris: I’d say right now, Post Malone would be cool.

Mel: Oh of course yes he’s got some great music out there at the moment.

Chris: For sure

Mel: For you, what is the meaning of life?

Chris: Oh I don’t know, finding a purpose, finding meaning.

Mel: Tell us something we don’t know about you.

Chris: I don’t know! Well I like to go to karaoke.

Mel: Oh really?

Chris: Yeah I like to go out there and blow people away.

Mel: [laughs] Yeah it’s one of my pleasures as well!

Chris: For sure.

Mel: Well excellent, thank you so much for talking to the Rockpit today Chris and good luck and we hope you really enjoy your tour here in February and good luck for the upcoming album.

Chris: Right on, thank you.
