ALBUM REVIEW: Rock Goddess – This Time

March 1st 2019 - Bite You To Death Records

Rock Goddess - This Time

The girls of Rock Goddess are back!  After a wait of over 30 years since their last release, the British heavy rock trio unleash ‘This Time’ on March 1st through their own label, Bite You To Death Records, in conjunction with Cargo and have assembled the original line-up of sisters Jody (guitar & vocals) & Julie Turner (drums), as well as Tracey Lamb (bass).

The album is full of thumping powerful rock & metal tracks with highlights including the opener ‘Are You Ready’, the brilliant ‘Calling To Space’ and the title track ‘This Time’ as well as the surprise of the album for me, the slower almost ballad-like ‘Drive Me Away’.  Ripping solos & power riffs, deep basslines & intricate drum fills abound, ‘This Time’ is an album that revisits what we loved about Rock Goddess but also with a much more updated and fresher feeling.  The fantastic album artwork of Eve the Medusa also deserves a mention, beautifully designed by Andy Pilkington.

Rock Goddess have already contributed so much to the history of hard rock and metal. Their place among the elite has long been assured. Now, they are ready to take it all to a new level – have no doubts, they are ready to blast a path through the contemporary music scene & on their own terms, as they always have done!  Having recently spoken to Jody, I can confirm the girls are locked & loaded and excited to finally be back out there doing what they do best and have already spoken of writing more material for a follow up album.

‘This Time’ will be put out through Bite You To Death Records in conjunction with Cargo on 1st March, 2019 and will be available on CD, digital & vinyl. Produced by Jody Turner & Mixed and Mastered by Wes Maebe (Robert Plant, New Model Army, Praying Mantis), it will feature Lamb’s bass parts, despite her recent departure.
