ALBUM REVIEW: At The Sun – Leave Before The Light

March 8th 2019 [self released]

At The Sun - Leave Before The Light

Picture this scene: The Black Crowes sharing a beer with Black Stone Cherry, whilst AC/DC and Guns ‘n’ Roses play pool in the corner.  If you are a fan of heavy, dirty guitars, pounding rhythms, soaring vocals and ripping solos then look no further than London based At The Sun, who released their fantastic debut album ‘Leave Before the Light’ on 8th March, the follow up to their 2017 four-track EP ‘Breathe’.

From the album opener ‘Only a Fool’ you hit the ground running & keep going until your feet just can’t keep up, with an mighty impressive collection of twelve classic rock ‘n’ roll tracks.  Every song is a highlight in its own right but the stand out tracks for me include; ‘Preacher’, ‘Breathe’, ‘Lay it On Me’ and ‘Raise Your Glass’.  With catchy riffs & choruses aplenty, this is an album which is going to give this band a real leg up in the UK & European rock scene and beyond.

At The Sun consist of Harry Dale (Vocals), Alex Matthews (Bass), Chet Jogia (Lead Guitar), Craig Steen (Drums) and Kieron Heavens (Rhythm Guitar).  “For us, it’s all about making music people can move to – music they can really feel!” says founder Kieron Heavens, “We don’t buy into the idea of just getting things out there quickly; we take our time to make sure everything we do is the best it can be.”

Yes, I know its only March but I’m making an early call for this album to be in my top five for 2019.  Get on it folks!
