ALBUM REVIEW: Airbound – Airbound

Art Of Melody Music & Burning Minds Music Group - September 15th 2017

Airbound

Italian melodic rockers Airbound, whose sound they admit has been inspired by classic AOR of bands like Journey and Survivor, and to me adds a dash of Bon Jovi to the mix have done pretty well here. Their debut is a nice and airy affair, upbeat and smelling of summer it’s a real ‘feel good’ hit from the first spin.

Fronted by vocalist Tomás Borgogna (of Something To Lean On) Airbound sound like a more than competent outfit and sport some great songs the best of which might just be first single ‘Till the End’ a nicely atmospheric slower rocker and the track that belies that Bon Jovi influence for me. It’s a great song ad if the band heads in that direction good things will surely follow.

Of the rest of the album it’s well worth checking out ‘The Sun Tomorrow’ with its great chorus, and the solid pairing of ‘You Live and You Learn’ and ‘Don’t Fade Away’. Our favourite though just might be ‘Zhaneta’, which boasts my favourite vocal here and some wonderful keys to boot that almost manages to trump Larsson’s amazing guitar.
by Sven Larsson.

To album closes nicely with another two great slabs of classy AOR – ‘She’s A Girl’ and ‘Seven Seas’. This is definitely a band to watch out for if you love great melodies and are willing to walk on the lighter end of the street.
