Michael Schenker, one of music’s greatest rock guitarists, will release Michael Schenker Fest “Live” Tokyo – a stunning new live recording and filmed concert released by inakustik on CD, DVD, Blu-ray and Digital on Friday 24th March 2017.
Filmed and recorded at Tokyo’s International Forum on August 24, 2016, this historic concert features guest appearances from some of the greatest rock vocalists who have worked with Schenker over the years including M.S.G.’S Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet, and Robin McAuley of the McAuley Schenker Group.

“It’s been a long time since M.S.G. – Live At Budokan,” says Schenker.
Like a miracle Michael Schenker returns to Japan with his past original singers from the ’80’s to celebrate the Michael Schenker Fest “Live” Tokyo with Barden, Bonnet and McAuley at the amazing Tokyo International Forum. 5000 fans witnessed an anthology moment of quintessential hard rock music of the highest calibre.
Says Schenker, “It’s a miracle that after all these years, something like this took place with the original band members of “M.S.G.”. Being able to go back to those days and celebrate the music is an exciting experience for us, as well as for old and new fans. To being able to re-experience, and for the new audience to get a feel of what it was like, is incredibly enjoyable.”
Continues Schenker, “It’s an amazing feeling to have all of my M.S.G. Family from the ’80’s performing together and especially with Graham Bonnet, who I never got to play any concerts after our Assault Attack album that was originally released in 1982.

Fortunately, being able to have the participation of original M.S.G. members such as Gary Barden, Chris Glen (bass) and Ted McKenna (drums) being part of it, and somehow, to perform with Robin McAuley and Steve Mann (guitar, keyboards) again as well, is pretty awesome.”

The Band: Michael Schenker – Lead Guitar Ted McKenna – Drums Steve Mann – Guitar, Keyboards Chris Glen – Bass
The Vocalists: Gary Barden Graham Bonnet Robin McAuley
“It was just one enjoyable event from beginning to end,” says Schenker. “Seeing those happy, excited fans right from the beginning before the show even started, was incredible. It was like Budokan all over again.”
Schenker remains enthusiastic and overjoyed at performing Schenker Fest with Barden, Bonnet and McAuley all under the same roof in Tokyo.
“It’s wonderful how we all got on with each other. It felt incredibly natural, as if it was always like this. Right from the start of rehearsal, the chemistry was great. No problems, just pure fun.”

QOTSA/Kyuss Legend Nick Oliveri to Headline Australia’s Mojo Burning Festival
· Andrew Schizodeluxe on January 11 2017 09:03:01

Annual boutique festival Mojo Burning has stepped up the proverbial notch big time, announcing ex-Queens of the Stone Age/Kyuss bass player Nick Oliveri as the headline act for the March 25 Brisbane event.

Not seen in Australia solo since his 2009/2010 ‘Death Acoustic’ national tour, Oliveri has been busy touring with The Dwarves, Mondo Generator, Kyuss Lives, Bl’ast! and more in what can only be described as a solid Rock’n’Roll work ethic. No stranger to trouble, the Palm Desert scene veteran will bring a tonne of attitude to the show with a national tour announce looming.

The much revered event, known by both bands and punters to regularly support the national Blues, Roots, Rock and Stoner Rock scenes, added six acts in its second artist announce including Oliveri, Punk Rock veterans SixFtHick, Brisbane riff queen Sabrina Lawrie and the Hunting Party, Sydney Stoner Blues outfit NARLA, The Dead Ringers and Hell and Whiskey. These bands join the already announced 14 acts (Cheap Fakes, The Blackwater Fever, Electrik Lemonade, Hobo Magic, Lepers and Crooks, Transvaal Diamond Syndicate and more) to place 20 solid nationally touring acts on 3 seamless stages over 12 hours.

Fest organiser Christian Tryhorn of Beats Cartel says of the 2017 Burn “This year’s Mojo Burning lineup has surprised even ourselves. Landing Nick is a massive step forward for the festival and hopefully the start of some larger side offerings to come. The day is always packed with great people and a great energy which places it in the top few favourite projects for us throughout the year. Please come along, spread the Mojo and have fun! This will be our biggest yet so get in early for tickets.”

The festival only continues to grow, with it’s fourth instalment including a Southern BBQ/Muscle Car outdoor pre-party in the carpark of the Hamilton Hotel to kick start proceedings. Art, and the making of, also plays a more prevalent role this year with a host of variable medium artists being teamed up with bands to create dual live performances.

STRIKER Announce New Self Titled Album To Be Released February 24
· Andrew Schizodeluxe on January 10 2017 11:45:34
There's no time wasted when it comes to one of Canada's most thrilling metal bands STRIKER.

In 2016, they unleashed their award winning Stand In The Fire, their fourth album and first release via their own independent label Record Breaking Records.

Wasting no time kicking off the new year, the shredders are set to return with their fifth, (self-titled) studio album due out on February 24, 2017 along with tours across the USA and Europe from January till mid April (dates listed below).

The band comments on the upcoming release:

"This is our no bullshit album. We cut out everything that wasn't absolutely necessary and kept everything short and to the point. We pray at the altar of heavy metal everyday, and there are some musical ideas that persist through time and some that don't. We focused in on what keeps listeners coming back and got rid of everything else. You can't climb Mount Everest dragging any useless shit with you; if you want to make it to the top, only bring with you what is absolutely necessary:
Lethal Amounts of Shred." .

STRIKER has launched a pre-order campaign with immediate download of their streaming first single Born To Lose

PRE ORDER NOW!!

(Pre-order campaign will run from January 10 till the end of the month.)

Listen To Born To Lose via Soundcloud

The band explains:

"Born To Lose, like most of our songs, is about doing what you want in life. When you are born into this world, there is a lot of you life that is predetermined. If you choose to change part of your life you need to go out and live it, not just fantasise about it. We've always wanted to hear music like ours, so we started a band and created it. Born to Lose embraces everything we love about music: speed, nonstop shred, huge vocals, guitars, and drums, and over the top energy and emotion.
If it doesn't make you want to throw down and party then nothing will."

MEDIA RELEASE: Storm The Sky Reveal "Wake Up Sleeping" Video + Announce Departure of Drummer Alex Trail
· Andrew Schizodeluxe on January 10 2017 11:41:49

Melbourne Death Pop crew Storm The Sky have revealed the brand new video for "Wake Up Sleeping", the third and final part of their music video trilogy, You Do This To Me, which includes "Lilac" and "Medicine".

You Do This To Me video trilogy is an intense and striking snapshot into a life spiralling out of control, in which he seeks to fix his problems the very same way he created them in a city consumed by drug culture that eventually swallows him whole. The final part of the trilogy "Wake Up Sleeping" is a surreal take on crossing over to the other side, which was impressively filmed in one take. The video for "Wake Up Sleeping" is a collaboration between Storm The Sky and The Astor Theatre (one of the few remaining 1930s single screen theatres in the world), with the help of Noni Hazlehurst.

Storm The Sky have also announced the departure of their drummer Alex Trail. His last show with Storm The Sky will be this weekend at UNIFY 2017, and the band has released the following statement: "Hey everyone, It is with a sore heart that we have to let you all know that our long time drummer Trail (Alex) will be leaving the band due to personal and career endeavours in his life that he's moving on to, and that we're extremely excited and happy to get behind and support. Trail has been our brother for the last 10 years and so we will dearly miss having him around. We're all still close mates and wish him all the best in the future.

"With that said, we will be continuing as a four piece and won't be looking for a new drummer. Alex is an amazing friend and musician and we can't imagine replacing him anytime soon. Instead we'll be involving and jamming with musicians that we respect and hold as dear friends. We have a lot of exciting things in the works so stay tuned!

Andy, Benny, Lachie, Will xoxo"

After UNIFY 2017, Storm The Sky will embark on their Sin Will Find You headline tour - a series of ALL AGES shows that will take in stops all around Australia in March. The tour will be their first headline run since the release of their sophomore album of the same name, which came out in August 2016 and has been turning heads all over the globe ever since. Spending much of 2016 traversing the highways across Australia, supporting US heavyweights Pierce The Veil and The Used, Storm The Sky wowed those in the audience with Heavy Mag saying, "their live set is something that has to be witnessed first hand", with Killyourstereo agreeing Storm The Sky have transformed into an incredible live experience: "the former-metalcore band have spread their wings and flown into the beautiful skies with a pop/post-hardcore/ambient rock fusion".

Their 2015 Permanence headliner saw them sell out every show in advance. Tickets for the Sin Will Find You Australian Tour are on sale now and expected to fly out of box offices in the same fashion.

KATAKLYSM - announce special European tour for autumn 2017!
· Andrew Schizodeluxe on January 10 2017 11:36:28

Canadian hyperblasters, KATAKLYSM, will celebrate their 25th band anniversary in 2017. In support of this noticeable jubilee, the band will play special shows and bring their classic records »Shadows & Dust« and »Serenity In Fire« on European stages in their entirety.

The band commented:

"It's hard to think that 25 years have already arrived, feels like yesterday when we were in high school being teen rebels and we started a band called KATAKLYSM, hard to believe that through everything this band has been through, we are still standing tall, but when you really think hard a few words can summon it all: Perseverance, strength, belief and honesty, those were and are the key ingredients for KATAKLYSM success and of course killer anthems who have stood the test of time!

We have taken this moment to stop and reflect and thought we should celebrate this event, as it doesn't happen often to bands, to still be meaningful to the world and achieve 25 years of career, with this we also noticed that one of our breakthrough albums »Shadows & Dust« will turn 15 years old in 2017, so what better way to send a big thank you back to our fans by revisiting this classic record and its follow up »Serenity In Fire«, two landmarks in KATAKLYSM's on going blistering career?

We decided to make a special event with select dates and bring this idea to life with a tour called »A Moment In Time: Shadows & Dust vs. Serenity In Fire« where KATAKLYSM will play both albums in their entirety, with a brand new stage show reflecting those two records, for this special occasion KATAKLYSM has invited their old friends in GRAVEWORM from Italy to open up the festivities, who themselves supported KATAKLYSM in Europe and in the US during the »Shadows & Dust« and »Serenity In Fire« campaign era, we are beyond excited for this event, it will be a one time thing for the cities we play it, so don't miss it, we will not bring it back, so make sure you come out and party with us celebrating our 25th anniversary!"

"Every year we try to find that delicate balance of talent at Rocklahoma, and the lineup we've put together for 2017 will not disappoint," commented Joe Litvag, executive producer of Rocklahoma. "DEF LEPPARD has been on the wish list of our most loyal fans since the festival was created back in 2007, and to couple them, one of the most influential British rock bands of the last 30+ years, with SOUNDGARDEN, one of the most respected American rock bands of our generation, is really special for us. Add to the mix some of the hottest developing talent like PIERCE THE VEIL, THE PRETTY RECKLESS, NOTHING MORE and RIVAL SONS, and I think we've accomplished the goal of achieving one of the most diverse festival lineups of the year anywhere. It's going to be a really memorable weekend!"
