Whitehorse:
Six Shooter Records’ Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet tie the musical knot with the debut of their band, Whitehorse, marrying their talent and chemistry on stage as a smoldering duo. Gutsy and resolute in their pursuits of sound and substance, Luke and Melissa’s fusion of the personal and professional brings to mind the road-tested romance of Johnny and June.

Individually, Luke and Melissa have been recognized with awards and nominations from the Juno Awards, the Canadian Folk Music Awards, the Hamilton Music Awards, the Independent Music Awards and Polaris. Together, Luke and Melissa create music that cascades forth, rushing like currents fluid and electric. More than the sum of considerable talents, Whitehorse showcases the rarity of true give and take in partnership, uniting falcon with songbird to dramatic effort.

Whitehorse is the culmination of years of honing solo skills as singer-songwriters. The two musicians have worked side by side for nearly a decade, contributing to one another’s records, touring and performing together, unknowingly yet instinctively moving towards the day when each would entrust their life and work to the other.

Sarah McLachlan:
Multi-platinum, Grammy-Award winning singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan’s most recent album LAWS OF ILLUSION  (2010) was released to overwhelming critical acclaim. USA Today raved:  “Some of her most buoyant and beautifully crafted songs ever. Candid and thoughtful, LAWS OF ILLUSION, finds her tackling heartache head-on and leaves no doubt that she wants to find love again – and will.” And The New York Times glows: “The songs are as direct as Ms. McLachlan’s have ever been, and as finely tuned…The album is as lush and measured…It’s a collection of ballads, hymns, and waltzes, sung in long arcs of melody with a voice that enfolds its strength in breathy intimacy. Acoustic instruments gleam, with unearthly keyboards and electric guitars billowing up around them.”
