THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS ENDS INCREDIBLE TWO YEAR TOUR IN SUPPORT OF ‘THIS IS WAR’ WITH FOUR SOLD OUT MARS300 SHOWS LAST WEEK IN NYC

Through A Ground-breaking Partnership With VyRT And Ustream The Band Invited Fans Around The World To Join The MARS300 Celebration With The First Ever Virtual Concert Ticket

Thirty Seconds To Mars played their final “MARS300” show last Friday, December 9th with a very special acoustic “Church Of Mars” show benefiting Haiti at the St. Peters church in NYC. The band began the week-long celebration dubbed “MARS300” to commemorate their 300th show in support of their acclaimed album ‘This Is War’ with two-sold out shows Dec. 6th and & 7th at the Hammerstein Ballroom and two more intimate, acoustic performances christened the “Church Of Mars” on Dec. 8th and 9th  at St. Peters church.  All proceeds from the Dec. 9th show were donated to Haiti relief.  The band was honored by the Guinness World Records® during their 300th show on Dec. 7th at the Hammerstein Ballroom for performing more concerts than any other band in a single album cycle.

Thirty Seconds To Mars fans around the world were able to experience the big Guinness World Record-breaking MARS300 show on Dec. 7th by purchasing a digital golden ticket through VyRT.net, allowing them access to a live and interactive broadcast on the band’s Ustream channel.   A first of its kind, ticket buyers got to watch the show live and connect socially with friends and other global fans simultaneously.  97% of the people who bought tickets watched the entire 4.8 hour live broadcast which included the concert and exclusive back-stage access and interviews.

Since the December 9th, 2009 release of their 3rd studio album ‘This Is War’, the band has played over 300 shows in almost 60 countries in 6 continents to an astounding 3 million people.  Thirty Seconds To Mars have become one of the biggest rock bands in world, true road warriors, they’ve sold out arenas around the globe including London’s infamous O2, they played the first international Lollapalooza Festival in Santiago, Chile, played to over 75,000 people at Reading and Leeds Festivals and to 100,000 people at Rock Am Park in Germany.

‘This Is War’ which was proclaimed an “artistic triumph” by Alternative Press Magazine and “Epic rock at its most affecting” by Billboard was recently certified Gold in the U.S. by the RIAA.  It has sold over 1.5 million albums and over 1 million singles world-wide.   It is certified platinum in three countries including the UK, Germany and Poland and has achieved gold status in seven other countries including Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.  Known for their inventive ideas in the digital world and for their close involvement with their loyal legion of fans dubbed the Echelon, Mars not only invited their fans to participate in the recording of the album through physical and digital summits around the globe, they also included fans on thousands of different album covers as part of their innovative Faces of Mars campaign.  A deluxe edition of the album was released in November, 2009 and a digital 4-track ‘Thirty Seconds To Mars Unplugged’ EP was released in August, 2011.

The album spawned 2-consecutive #1 singles with “Kings & Queens” and “This Is War” and top 10 single “Closer To The Edge.”  ‘This Is War’ has scored a total of seven VMA nominations and the band won the 2010 VMA for Best Rock Video for “Kings & Queens.” They were nominated for three 2010 MTV EMAs, winning the award for Best Rock. They were nominated for three 2011 EMAs and won Best Alternative and Best World Stage trophies.  They won Best International Band at both the 2010 and 2011 Kerrang! Awards and also picked up the 2011 Best Single Kerrang! for “Hurricane”. “Hurricane” which sparked controversy around the world when it was banned on many networks also won an MTV O award for Best NFSW Video at the 2010 inaugural ceremony.  The band was also nominated for their first ever Teen Choice Award this year.

Signed to their first record deal in 1998, Thirty Seconds To Mars consists of brothers Jared and Shannon Leto and Tomo Milicevic.
