The Dead Daisies have announced their arrival onto the International rock circuit with the release of a brand new interactive short film to accompany their heavy hitting debut single Lock ‘N’ Load featuring Slash.
Jon Stevens’ trademark vocals are plastered powerfully atop signature guitar
riffs from Slash, however that’s as far as the familiarity goes. The Lock ‘N’ Load film tells a wrenching post-apocalyptic story using a concept that makes clever use of the interactive capabilities of the YouTube platform. A split ending to the film allows the viewer to dictate the fate of the story’s warrior & protagonist in a style reminiscent of the once popular ‘choose your own ending’ novels. The most popular ending will also be used in the Official TV release of the video, making Lock ‘N’ Load a truly interactive experience for fans.
The lead role was played by 15 year old up & coming actor from Melbourne,
Australia, Rory Trobbiani, who said he was rapt to be a part of a music project featuring one of his favorite guitarists, Slash. An avid skater and musician, Trobbiani has also been featured in shoots for top fashion labels and photographic art projects around the country.
Lock ‘N’ Load was directed by award winning Melbourne filmmaker Summer DeRoche, daughter of screenwriter Everett DeRoche, whose work has been seen & embraced right across the globe. The clip was produced by Oh Yeah Wow, a reative powerhouse of unlicensed pyrotechnicians, unappreciated comedians and unknown celebrities who have worked alongside internationally renowned artists such as Gotye, Clubfeet, Bombay Bicycle Club, Aloe Blacc and Wax Tailor.

The Red Paintings are currently gearing up to launch a series of innovative new stage shows for “The Revolution Is Never Coming” Australian release, which begins in June 2013.
Known for their incredible live performances, the band are bringing their ‘You’re Not One Of Them’ tour to Australia in June, following the recent release of their new single & video. The unique show is the first of four incredible stage shows the band will tour around the world in support of their album, with each tour featuring a different and even more ambitious spectacle. Based between Australia and Los Angeles, The Red Paintings are a five-piece orchestral art rock group (guitar, bass, drums, piano, cello & violin) who incorporate themed costumed stage shows, live art, visual projections and human canvases to create a truly unique art experience in real time that reflects the band’s music and energy. Currently playing sold out shows across the US (as main support for punk group Mindless Self Indulgence) and the UK (with prog rockers The Pineapple Thief), as well as coming off their own 40-date tour across the UK, Europe and USA, they now return to Australia ahead of the release of their much-anticipated album The Revolution Is Never Coming in June. The band is on the lookout for artists and human canvases to be part of their creative circus. To join them on stage painting to the music or offer your body to be painted, email: artsubmissions@theredpaintigns.com or check out www.facebook.com/TRPartistpage for more info and to see artworks created on tour around the world. Artists are sourced with the aim of finding struggling but talented painters and providing them with a new platform to showcase their work. ‘’As most bands now create social blogs of their tour experiences, The Red Paintings create real time art works to share the energy of each show with their fan base and tell the history of the band - a fragment of time that fits the moment’’ - Trash McSweeney Through the donation and support of their fans the band raised the funds to create their highly anticipated full-length album. The Revolution Is Never Coming showcases the band’s ambitious musical, social, political and creative themes across 13 tracks and includes a 35-piece orchestra, 22-piece choir, harps, theremin and more. The results speak for themselves. The album’s incredible sound evokes everything from child-like lullabies of the future, to tearing, biting, alternative-rock numbers. The record has been compared to multi-faceted acts like Radiohead, Coheed and Cambria, Biffy Clyro, Trail of Dead, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse and Brand New. The album was also one of the last to be mixed by the late Bryan Colstrum (Alice in Chains, Rob Zombie) who stated: “In my entire 30 year career I’ve not mixed such a diverse, colourful and emotionally dynamic album such as this. It’s like a 21st century War of the Worlds.” The band has been touring themed stage shows relentlessly across the world off the back of four previous EP releases. They have been handpicked as supports worldwide with like-minded acts such as Scottish post-rockers MOGWAI, “punk cabaret” duo The Dresden Dolls, American poet Saul Williams, The Posies and Atari Teenage Riot. With their diverse history and cult following, The Red Paintings’ have stepped into 2013 with a cutting edge debut-album, a highly praised innovative live performance, and die-hard fans (who Trash says are "the best on the planet"). It truly looks as though the future is now for the band. ‘The Revolution Is Never Coming’ is in Australian stores through Bird’s Robe Records/MGM Distribution June 7th 2013, with international release details to follow through The End Records (The Prodigy, Fat Boy Slim, The Dandy Warhols).

‘Feel’ is the anthemic new single from the Gold Coast's garage-pop bombshells Bleeding Knees Club, and is the first fresh material from the band since last year's acclaimed debut album ‘Nothing To Do’. The puppy-packed film clip for ‘Feel’ just dropped this morning and is currently doing the rounds online.
Produced by Melbourne-based legend Lindsay Gravina (Violent Soho, Magic Dirt), ‘Feel’ is the sound of Bleeding Knees Club gaining confidence and branching out. Mess+Noise has already enthused "It's still intoned with nasal earnestness over crashing bubblegum punk, but it could just be a sign of a more grown-up band".
From a duo whose first EP was recorded in the back of a shoe shop in their hometown, Bleeding Knees Club have come a long way in their short but busy existence. After a flurry of early international attention, 2012's ‘Nothing To Do’ album was recorded in New York City with producer Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange). More recently frontman Alex Wall unveiled the self-produced solo record from his gonzo-punk alter-ego Wax Witches in February.
‘Nothing To Do’ was released a little over 12 months ago to a rapturous reception. In Australia, triple j Mag awarded it 9/10 and said it was "an album you can't help but love", while UK music bible NME hailed the band's "undeniable knack for turning out two-minute garage-pop songs". The duo supported it with two massive national headline tours in 2012, alongside slots at the Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festivals, as well as their run of chaotic Call The Cops shows with best buds DZ Deathrays and Yacht Club DJ's.
Bleeding Knees Club will launch "Feel" on a four-date tour in late May and early June. Joining them as special guests for all shows will be Sydney surf-pop sensations SURES, who are currently putting the finishing touches on their own new EP. Tickets are on sale from 9am local time this Monday 29th of April.

MELBOURNE'S HAMISH ANDERSON TO RELEASE DEBUT EP FEATURING RAMI JAFFEE (FOO FIGHTERS, THE WALLFLOWERS)
· Mark on April 26 2013 07:35:32
Melbourne’s own gifted vocalist, guitarist and prolific songwriter, Hamish Anderson is set to release his impressive self-titled debut EP featuring many notable musicians including members of Foo Fighters, The Wallflowers and Angus & Julia Stone. The EP and lead single, Howl will be released on April 19 and Hamish will be celebrating with a launch show at The Toff In Town on Wednesday May 1.
Having made a name for himself across the local scene for his impressive live show that encompasses a mix of blues, rock and folk with moments of loud, electric blues-soaked songs as well as delicate acoustic balladry, Hamish comes armed with a host of noteworthy tunes and a songwriting and vocal maturity well beyond his twenty-one years.
After topping JJJ’s Unearthed charts in the pop/rock category with a demo track, Hamish picked up his guitar and headed to Sydney to record a five-track EP in BJB Studio with producer Eric J. Dubowsky (Art vs. Science, Weezer, Bluejuice). The EP was engineered by Jean-Paul Fung (Birds of Tokyo, Last Dinosaurs, Silverchair) and mastered by Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Dr John, The Shins).
After hearing a few of Hamish’s songs, the passionate Rami Jaffee (keyboardist for Foo Fighters and founding member of The Wallflowers) stopped past the studio (while on tour in Australia with Foo Fighters) to record organ and piano, alongside bass player Rob Calder (Angus & Julia Stone) and drummer James Hauptman (Bluejuice).
Lead single Howl is a song about human passion and provides a great first taste for listeners discovering Hamish Anderson. “It was written reasonably fast, I heard the riff in my head and that really drove the entire song and its feel,” explains Hamish. “During the recording the drummer’s symbol split from being belted soo hard and I blew up an old Vox Guitar amp!” he exclaims, showing just how much gusto went in to recording the track in just one live take.
With plans to release an album sometime in the future, for now Hamish is keen to work on an EP-basis, saying “I very much like the idea of releasing EP’s as little snap shots of where I’m at musically.” And he isn’t wasting any time, having already headed back in to the studio to record a few new tracks with Jeff Buckley’s drummer Matt Johnson.

After nearly a decade on the road with Wolfmother, winning a Grammy and numerous ARIA Awards along the way, Andrew Stockdale returns to us with a surge of creativity in the shape of Keep Moving, his first self-produced studio album, under his own name.
Stockdale spent the last three years writing in and out of studios and hotel rooms, recording with a variety of musicians and fine-tuning the record to a point where he felt he gelled with it. “I’m really happy with it,” Stockdale says of the new album. “Totally, absolutely, I love it. I can live with it. I’ve listened to it 1,000 times.”
The first single, “Long Way To Go,” is released as part of a 4-track EP entitled, Keep Moving (EP) out TODAY in Australia, April 26th. For Andrew Stockdale, the track came together in a flash – a songwriter’s dream. The song grapples with the theme of others’ expectations. “It’s about when people pigeonhole you, and categorise you. It’s not up to anyone else to tell you the way your dreams can be fulfilled. It’s up to you to follow your heart and try make things happen. Whatever someone thinks you can or can’t do, it’s not up to them. It’s up to the individual. And if someone thinks they’ve got me all worked out, well, hey, I’ve got a long way to go.”
CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “LONG WAY TO GO”
Keep Moving is an honest exposé of Stockdale’s poetic point of view within his day-to-day experiences and relationships with people. Players and engineers involved in the making of this record featured musicians from the old Wolfmother camp as well as new artists and crew that Stockdale met along the way. Some of them include: Ian Peres (Bass, Keys); Vin Steele (Rhythm Guitar); Elliott Hammond (Wurly, Harp); Hamish Rosser (Drums); Will Rockwell-Scott (Drums) and Dave Atkins (Recording and Drums). Keep Moving was mixed by Vance Powell at Sputnik Sound in Nashville, and the album was mastered by Chris Athens Masters in Nashville.
Stockdale admits there was pressure to continue playing as Wolfmother, a name created with earlier collaborators. “It was a name, a brand everyone knows. But I don’t feel comfortable playing as Wolfmother,” Stockdale says. “When you write a song, what’s on your mind comes out, what’s in your heart and soul comes out. It’s about your life experiences. I’ve been getting stuff off my chest, expressing ideas and experiences that are personal to me and I don’t want to keep then applying that to the Wolfmother name. I had pressure on my shoulders.”
Now there’s a new pressure -- facing the music world as Andrew Stockdale. “It’s a good pressure,”
Stockdale admits, “because it asks that question: is it any good? Do you like this music, do you like the film clips, the artwork. What’s it about? I’ve put my heart and soul into it, and I believe in it.”

“…the sweet-yet-tortured tones of Evanescence with the angry wails of Lacuna Coil” – Rag Magazine Flyleaf are set for their long-awaited first headline tour of Australia this August. Flyleaf’s style of hard rock is reminiscent of Deftones, Evanescence and Chevelle. Heavy riffs, thrilling arrangements, memorable melodies and mammoth choruses all blazing with a fresh fire and uncontainable energy, spreading positivity and encouraging hope in their fans. Flyleaf released their acclaimed self-titled album in 2005. The band supported the album touring through 2006-7 on the Family Values Tour with Stone Sour and Disturbed in the US and an appearance on Australia’s Soundwave. The band’s live performance has been described as “energetic, fiery, passionate and manic, a ludicrously energized live performance”. “Shattered, chiming chords and intertwined lead guitar lines were belted out with aplomb, held up by a bombastic rhythm section. Perhaps most thrilling though was the animated, dynamic performance of new vocalist Kristen May.” -Cleveland Sound Flyleaf return to our shores with a setlist full of anthems including “All Around Me”, “Cassie”, “I’m So Sick”, “Fully Alive” and “Again” to name but a few. Guaranteed to keep their diehard fans happy and impress a whole stack of new ones. Flyleaf – New Horizons Australian Tour 2013 Tickets for all shows are available from metropolistouring.com and the venues. · Mark on April 26 2013 06:32:52
You heard right, the Baby Animals are back with their third studio album, the first in twenty years. This Is Not The End will be released on Friday 31st May via Social Family Records. To celebrate the release of the album the band have announced today that they will tour the East Coast of Australia this June, with tickets going on sale from Monday 29th April.
It’s been two decades since their last full-length studio album and the Baby Animals strike a familiar pose with their enigmatic singer Suze DeMarchi and her talismanic guitarist Dave Leslie returning for action. They’re joined by rhythm section comprising of two familiar faces in Dario Bortolin on bass and Mick Skelton on drums. This is Not the End is a genuine rock album with a return to classic Baby Animals form that their fans will love. The Perth-born singer and guitarist Dave Leslie has either penned or co-written all songs on this album, some of which draw on the break-up of Suze’s marriage with guitar hero Nuno Bettencourt. The album was produced by ARIA award-winning producer David Nicholas (INXS, Ash), and Nick DiDia (Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots) also lent his considerable skill on the record’s first single Email. “I’m really, really proud of this album. I love every track and I can’t wait to perform these songs on tour. I love playing live; gigs really are the pay off. We want to go wherever this record takes us,” - enthuses Suze. This Is Not The End is the start of a new beginning for the band. They are thrilled to be releasing new material in this day and age, where the music industry has changed so dramatically since their last release. “We feel more driven than we were when we were younger,” says Suze. “We decided to buck the system with this record and put it out independently. The music business is so stale right now; we wanted to do it differently. We’ve been able to really reconnect with our fans on social media.” The path tread by Baby Animals has had some incredible high points. There were the many memorable hits, which have included Early Warning, Rush You, Painless and One Word. The band’s eponymous album spent six weeks at No. 1 in Australia, converting platinum sales and selling over one million albums worldwide. There were ARIA Awards, international touring and friendships with Van Halen, Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers, and Bryan Adams. Suze has enjoyed the induction into the Western Australian Music Industry Association’s (WAMI) Hall of Fame. More than two decades have passed since the Baby Animals exploded onto the scene and today the band are standing taller, feeling more empowered and sounding even stronger than ever before. · Mark on April 26 2013 06:30:23
