WE ARE THE FALLEN

TEAR THE WORLD DOWN

RELEASED MAY 2010

I don't mind a bit of female-fronted dark Gothic Rock, but let's face it there are a lot of bands out there with those attributes. Some are great, some are terrible and others are just generic.

For me it's a sliding scale from pop to metal. This falls on the pop side.

We are the Fallen - well I like the name, and to be honest the opening track "Bury Me Alive" grabbed my attention - like good Evanescence (that made me laugh later when I read the bio) with a pinch of Lacuna Coil and a more straight-forward less-metalic Nightwish. Infact when you realise that this is perrty much the original Evanescence plus an American Idol finalist it all makes sense.

So far so good. The track "Burn" too that follows is also pretty good and has that same sort of Goth-pop tinge.

However it's tracks like "Paradigm" that pull all of the trademarks together and really work well, and the beautiful ballad "Sleep well My Angel" is just simply a great song.

Standout tracks are for me at least the powerful "Without You" and of course the opener "Bury Me Alive" which is probably the strongest track (and if you hit the band's site you can get a free download of a great acoustic version of the track).

There may not be anything on here quite as good as Evanescence's "Bring me to Life" but this is a good and commercial sounding Goth-pop band.

Even the name I'm guessing is a bit of a pun, and maybe even the name of the opening track hints at that first big hit by that 'other' band?

Young girls with black hair and black clothes will love this.

Anyone who likes Evanescence or Lacuna Coil will like this.

Hey I like this, it's pretty good, not Nightwish, a little lite maybe but good all the same.
