Steevi Jaimz – My Private Hell

2009

Ex-Tigertailz man Steevi Jaimz has pulled out all the stops to deliver an absolute classic album in “My Private Hell”.

Collaborating to great effect with ex-Zan Clan man Chris Laney and Anders Ringman, and recorded in Sweden, the album boasts a modern production with a stadium-worthy warm sound reminiscent of late eighties Kiss, Def Leppard & even Enuff Z’Nuff classics.

The album kicks off with ‘Amazing’, Jaimz sounding like a man in love with life, fresh and ready to take on the world – which is the perfect description for an album which projects that exact same vibe.

Every song is killer here, and Jaimz has really matured as a songwriter – one listen to instant classic ‘Something Good, Something Bad’ or the title track proves that. The former is so catchy I have woken up with it in my head several times already!

‘I Don’t Wanna Walk Away’ is a little TOO Def Leppard, but apart from that it’s a great torch burner of a ballad, and ‘Don’t Say It’s Over’ & ‘Dancin’ With Sanger’ are among the other standouts.

Laney & Ringman play all the instruments on the album, but it sounds like a coherent band release – there’s no sign of studio trickery which would prevent these great songs from being presented live.

If I’d heard this album just 3 weeks ago it would be in my top ten for 2009 – I’ve barely taken it off the CD player since I got my hands on it – and if this is the aural product of Steevi’s internal struggles, then long may they continue to provide us with such quality music.
