MANOWAR

THUNDER IN THE SKY

Manowar are the perfect band to listen to whilst sitting at home, sharpening one's broadswords and battleaxes. "Thunder In The Sky" is majestic and awe-inspiring in it's scope, as with most Manowar releases - Joey DeMaio and co don't do anything by halves, and it's their absolute conviction in what they do that shines through here.

'Let The Gods Decide', 'Die With Honor', 'The Crown And The Ring' - I can imagine DeMaio sitting at home of a weekend, sipping jugs of mead, honing his sword, applyinng baby oil, skinning the day's catch in order to make a new pair of boots or a fur mankini... *ahem*, I digress! [Though there has always been something a little homo-erotic about Manowar!]

"Death To False Metal" may still be Manowar's battlecry, but epic ballad 'Father' (presented on a bonus disc here in 14 different European languages - plus Japanese - in addition to the English version on the album proper) is heartfelt enough to make even the most battle-hardened and grizzled old Viking shed a tear.
