LAMB OF GOD - WRATH

2009

Lamb of God are one of the modern leaders of unrepentant metal music, and latest album “Wrath” opens with an acoustic intro called ‘The Passing’ before throttling into ‘In Your Words’ - a perfect example of LOG’s blend of hardcore thrash, death growls and old school metal – and from then on there is no respite and no turning back.

“Wrath” is a true modern metal album, unrelentingly pounding and brutal and beautiful in a slightly obscene and determinedly antisocial fashion, but at the end of the day, it’s LOG as we have heard them before – there’s no huge variation in their sound in comparison with previous offerings.

That’s fine: they do what they do extremely well, and continue to slaughter live, but one wonders how many more albums they have in them if they choose not to vary the formula too much.
